Ammunition carry

perception

I work at a VA hospital, and while it has been established that the legality of carrying a gun on federal property is fuzzy at best, I was wondering about ammunition.

I don't carry my gun with me to work due to firearms laws being unclear, but I want to keep a spare mag in the car at all times so I know one is always there. I was wondering about the legality of said AMMUNITION on Federal property.

If you all would give me your opinions on the matter, I would appreciate it.

[fuzzy] It's against federal law for civilians to carry weapons and explosives on government property. [/fuzzy]

Disarm and leave ANY live ammunition at home. You cannot even lock it in the trunk. Prohibited items on federal property. Ask the GSA Police for the specifics next time you go UNarmed. They will be glad to copy the information and give it to you.

Who checks at the VA??Haven't been in a while, but I don't remember any checkpoints, guards. Couple of security guys walking about...no big deal. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, more than likely there would be no way anyone would ever know, but we have been having a lot of stuff go down lately, and it is a good possibility my vehicle might be searched, besides the fact that we have one cop who isn't worthy of his badge, and has been known to get quite vindictive if he is having a bad day. A firearms violation of any sort would probably prevent me from becoming a pilot, so I have to avoid those situations completely.
