I have 12 ga. shotguns with both 2 3/4" and 3" chambers. Most of my ammo is 2 3/4" but I do have a little bit of 3" also. The 3" stuff is all in 5 round boxes: one box of #4 buck, two boxes of 1 oz. slugs, and three boxes of 00 buck.
I know enough to be certain that I only use the 3" loads in the properly chambered shotguns. My concern is that not everyone else is aware of the difference and I don't want any accidental use of the 3" stuff in a 2 3/4" gun.
How do you segregate your ammo to eliminate any chance of this happening? I am thinking that I should just shoot up the 3" ammo and only have 2 3/4" loads. That would be the surest way of eliminating the issue, but I'd like to hear what anyone else does.
