Ammo recommendations.

I need some opinions on what type of ammo I should buy for my Bushmaster AR. My barrel has a 1/9 twist and is chrome lined. What I am looking for is general purpose plinking ammo that is cheap in price but reliable. I did go to http://www.ammoman.com and they have quite a selection, but I'm not sure what to buy. Also, Should I opt for a brass case as opposed to steel?
While on the subject I might as well ask the same question about my Springfield M1A. I have the stainless N.M. barrel with what I believe is a 1/11 twist. Again, I'm looking for cheap, reliable plinking ammo.
BTW, I use Federal match ammo in both of these arms when I am going for accuracy.

I have always had good luck with the Sellier and Bellot brass-case ammo in 55 grain. Your 1 in 9" twist barrel will shoot the 55 or 62 grain variant just fine. I stay away from steel-case ammo in ARs, though. Call it a personal preference. Stick to 55grains for the 1 in 11" twist barrel.
