I have a 1858 with a metalic cartridge coversion cylinder. The ammo that I have found is a 38 sp 125 gr. RNFP Cowboy.
My question is what does RNFP stand for?

ammo question

Original 1866? Why? Primers were corrosive mercury compounds, powder's 140 years old, and they're probly rare as hens teeth. Or are you just interested in collecting for historical reasons?:p

And they are rimfire to boot.
I don't know that any .44 Henry has been made since before WWII, maybe a lot before WW II.
You could no doubt get one or a few from a cartridge collector for display but it would be a huge expense to get shooting quantities, even if they were still live.
Uberti made a few .44 Henry rimfire repros to be sold as display pieces in repressive regimes where their .44 - 40s could not go. Possible because ammunition is all but unavailable.

Jim,

I,am just looking for 1 or 2 to go along with my 1866. Guys often ask me what the cartridge looks like, so if I had (1) I could show them.
