I'm not a reloader but I'd be intersted to know if the recent price spike in manufactured ammo prices is due to panic buying on the part of consumers or is just the end result of an overall inflation in the costs of all the things that are used to make ammo, such as cases, bullets primers, powder, etc. Any thoughts?

It's panic buying. People started hoarding last fall so now the supply is pretty minimal.

However I noticed that 2 years ago the prices were really high on regular rifle ammo and they said that it was because the price of raw materials like copper, brass, lead had all reached really high levels then. Those prices have droppped now though so it will be interesting to see what the prices do when the panic subsides.

We have had MANY discussions at TFL over the last few months on this subject.

We don't really need another one that recovers ground that has already been covered thoroughly.

The search feature will get you the answers that you seek.
