Ammo for my new G26

I won an auction on a NIB G26! I should be getting it within the next few days... but what is the best 9mm defesive ammo? What is the best cheap ammo to practice with also? I know that each gun may have its own taste... but i want to break it in with the best.... sort of how i always put the high octane in my car... regardless of price... it just seems to run better! After I feed 200 or more rounds of the good stuff I will switch over to the cheap ammo for practice. If you have any good websites of cheap ammo vendors please post them!

After I shoot it at the range this weekend I will let yall know how it goes!!!

Happy shooting!

You will get a lot of advice here on what's best. Personally, I prefer federal HydroShok in all calibers. As for practice ammo, the best advice will be to practice with what you carry. After you shoot a good amount of your carry ammo to be sure it works well in your gun, then you can plink around with cheaper stuff, but always end your range session with the good stuff! Congrats on winning the auction. How much did you have invested?

gEe26,

Congratulations on winning the G26. It is a neat, compact 9x19. The unpredictable trigger lends it to amazing accuracy. It is very comfortable to shoot with full power ammo. I like the G26 for ankle carry in a Renegade holster. While I like the qualities of
the G26, the action scares me. I am not fully comfortable with a pistol which is “cocked and unlocked”.

I recommend Corbon 115 grain +P JHP for effectiveness and nearly zero flash. To save money while practicing, I recommend a handload similar to the Corbon:
6.0 gr VV-N340
115gr Hornady JHP-XTP
CCI 500 primer
RP or other brass
OL 1.08”
1305 fps in G26
Nearly zero muzzle flash
Velocity spread is +/- 1% using powder measure

Good luck!

thanks for the info!

I won it on www.auctionarms.com for the amazing price of $439.00 plus $20 shipping! It is a NIB Glock G26!

I am pretty excited I cant wait to dry fire it or even more to go punch holes with it this weekend!!!

If anyone is interrested in NIB glocks... Auctionarms and gunbroker.com both have some cheap sellers... if you can invest a little time to search for the deals!!

Happy shooting!

You will like your G-26,however dont worry about it being cocked and unlocked.after a shot is fired, the striker is reset but not fully cocked, that does not happen until the trigger is fully pulled, there the striker safety that prevents the striker from contacting the primer until the trigger is pulled.for some good info about glocks check out www.glockmiester.com

I have my G26... and I am in love... dry firing it as I post!!!

Thinking of a name for her also!

Cant wait to get to the range with her this weekend... I will keep you posted with how she fires!

Until then and always... happy and safe shooting!!
