Ammo for Marlin 1894P

Anybody have experience using Federal 240gr JHP 44 mag in a Marlin 1894P? I'm mainly looking for reliability in feeding. Ammoman has 500 rds for $185 but I want
to make sure it will feed before buying a large quantity.

Reason I'm asking is because I once bought a Winchester (can't remember the model) in 45LC and it wouldn't feed Pro Loads.

Any recommendations on reliable feeding ammo would be appreciated. The Marlin will be used for home defense.

I dunno how your 1894P differs, but they feed and shoot ok out of an 80's vintage 1894S (microgroove barrel). The Federal hollow point out of a longer rifle barrel can hit like a train wreck, maybe too much tissue damage for some hunting. For your intended use it may lower the risk of overpenatration.

Tom,

The 240gr JHP Federal is the round of choice for me. Like Tom, I have a '94S and have had no feed problems.

I shoot lead semi-wadcutters in my 1894P. If it will feed these broad FP Keith-type bullets, it should do anything other than a wadcutter. I've not tried any wadcutters.
