Ammo - finger on the pulse

I bought ammo in bulk years ago like everybody else. With the Obama scare, I watched supplies and prices go crazy.
It has been a while since I checked prices but recently saw 5.56 on clearance.

AR15 has a good site for checking current deals, but is there a site that tracks historical prices and looks for trends? Much like a stock or commodity?

I understand that price of metal won't go down, gov surplus is no longer an option and we are fighting two wars.

What is the current state of ammo availability? How much can people stockpile?

gun-deals.com will list current deals by various providers.
If you click on a specific deal, there is a very non-scientific history of that deal. If say Doofus's Shootin Supply has raised or lowered their price on their offering of "1000rd bucket 'o 5.56 bullets," AND someone noticed it and posted the change to the gun-deals, there will be a date/price change +\- listed.

sorry, mate, that's the closest I've seen to what you're looking for.

I use ammoseek.com to compare current prices. I'm not aware of anything online tracking historical prices. You might try sending the admin of that site an email asking if they have historical data saved away. Maybe they can construct a history.
