I have read on another forum that the type of ammo you load in your SD weapon could get you in trouble. I bring this up because of a post another member made about mixing bullet weights and (I think) constructions in his SD mag.

I tried to Google it and this is all a quick search yielded. The author claims that you could get into trouble by using zombie ammo for self defense. The first link is to the article and the second link is to Hornadys website with the disclaimer that you should not use this ammo on humans.

I apologize for the long road to get to my question but...Can you get into extra legal trouble for mixing ammo types in your SD mags? I certainly see benefits to doing it.

Mas Ayoob has for a long time stated that the kind of gun and/or ammo you use can get you into trouble. This has become some sort of internet legend and accepted as gospel fact.

In reality there's no evidence of it ever being used successfully in a court case and Hornady Zombie ammo looks essentially identical to other Hornady ammo once you take it out of the box, except for the green tip. Once it expands I dare anyone to tell the difference between it and a regular JHP, this isn't some TV show where you can tell the serial number of a gun just by the projectile it fires.

Personally, and I'm no lawyer, the kind of gun the ammo is coming out of can be more of a legal headache--since it'll be splashed on the screen as evidence and a gun covered in skulls won't look that great... but... there's no evidence of it ever being used against a defendant (assuming the shooting was justified in the first place).
