American Tactical M 1911

I just found a American Tactical M 1911 with 2 mags for sale here at a local gun shop for $269. I have wanted to get myself a 1911 but this seems really cheap. anybody here have one? How are they?

I almost bought one recently on a whim for $295 OTD...but passed on it. So my brother bought it. Unfortunately, last I heard he has been less than impressed with it. It has been regularly having feed issues and to my knowledge he hasn't been able to get a single magazine-full to feed though it without a hitch.
 
ATI 1911

Ethan Johns did a article in November's "Swat" mag. If I remember right. The gun itself was good and accurate, but the supplied mags had issues and possibly needed a break in period. When quality mags (Chip McCormick) were used, no problems were encountered and the gun ate everything he fed it. He recommended using quality mags. Hope this helps.
 
Wow--That is really cheap. Bud's sells them for well over $400. I have actually read (don't know personally though) that they are on the same quality/functionality of the RIA's.

Another sub-$400 model is the Turkish Regent 1911A1 which received good reviews from American Rifleman.

I contacted my brother just after posting and asked him what brand mags he has used in the ATI: Colt mags, Mec-Gar...and Chip McCormick's! All with the same results. Must be a lemon.

Dang. Well, that happens even with the high dollar companies. Hopefully their customer service will be good.
