American Shooter advertises S$W

Just saw this weeks episode, and am somewhat steamed. Not only did they accept and air a 30 second spot from S&W, but also promoted a new revolver from the traitors during thier Gun Tech segment.
I fired off an appropriate E-mail to them voicing my displeasure. You may do the same, if so inclined at

I know I'm going to get some heat on this but I think we need to give it a rest. If S&W is going to spend their money on advertising then let them. If they spend their money while no one is buying their guns guess what? It speeds up the bankruptcy time.

I was hot on this too but after reading some opinions I have realized that every gun magazine on the rack is selling advertising to S&W. They are because S&W is paying. A gun magazine, just like a guns show, can't just say I won't sell you advertising. Even if they could, why should they?

I will boycott S&W and any store that continue's to sell NEW S&W guns. Advertising articles don't bother me. Every time I see one I say "Keep wasting your money S&W".

Better to have the show than not.

Don't buy the guns if you don't want to.
I went to a pretty good store the other day to buy some supplies. They were friendly but were SW dealers. If we don't buy them, they will get the idea. However, they have the right to sell them.

You have the right to right American Shooter, of course. But if the choice is to fold without the advertising, then let them take it.

Guys it was not the thirty second paid ad that got me steamed. It was the FREE promotion given to one of S&W's products during the Gun Tech segment of the show, in which new products of interest are touted.

There is no way that they should be getting FREE advertising from anyone interested in preserving RKBA.

Have you ever seen one SHRED of politics on American shooter?

The closest thing I saw to references to gun control was a brit who came to the US to shoot pistols.

They show people shooting fullauto like everything was just hunky dory.

Battler.

The program is for news, tech info, and entertainment. Advertising pays the bills.

Regardless of the opinions of us hard-core types about the S&W deal and our boycotting of them, not everybody feels that way. I'm happy to express an opinion, but I really don't like to tell others what to think.

Given that "American Shooter" is the only program of its type, I'd just leave it alone. I imagine that with the relatively small audience they have, they can't afford to have "opinions"--and I'd rather have the programs with a few warts than no program at all.

Jim Scoutton(sp?) and I spoke on the phone several times a few months ago after I met his son at the Bianci Cup. Our first conversation was initiated by him calling me to inquire if I would mind his feature our holsters during the Gun Tech segment of a future episode. There was no fee for this and I, naturally, jumped at the offer. However, he did inform me that they are back logged with people in the industry wanting their products featured and it might be some time before he got to my product.
I suspect, but do not know, that Smith may have told them they would advertise if and only if they featured one of their products during that segment.
Now that Tennessee based TNN has been bought by New York based MTV I suspect that they will be fighting for their very (television) lives just to remain on the air. The only way they could do this convincingly would be to show a profit. I figure if Smith wants to spend the money let them. No matter how rosey and glowing the ads I'm not buying one any way.

OK all you hard-core S&W boycotters, I want to hear all the rhetoric about boycotting American Shooter and any show that Jim Scoutten hosts! :p You must forbid the show to be seen on your TV forever more.

The people who produce Ameican Shooter have sold you out and arrapently don't care about your RKBA.

Hell, they must be hooked up with the likes of Colt and HK also seeing as I have seen them on the show. Have to boycott them also.

In fact, you must boycott TNN for allowing it to happen.

I don't agree with or condone what the owners of S&W and the executives did but, others in the industry seem to have put it in the past for the sake of the almighty $$!

Ok, go ahead and flame away but this is my .02 on it.

Just my .02. Concerning the advertising on American Shooter and in the gun rags. It could be that these entities have entered into contracts with S&W, prior to the agreement. If American Shooter or one of the gun rags has contracted for tha advertising, and the gun rag or A/S refuses any more ads, guess who gets sued?
I won't buy any new S&W's, but I can look at them the same way as I would a first generation Colt Single Action. Too expensive. One in monetary terms and the other in regards to my Second Amendment rights.

*&* is not just an advertiser on Am.Shooter, they are one of a handful of major sponsors, along with Glock, Ruger, Federal and Bushnell. I guess that free promos operate kinda like the magazine game - if you advertise, we'll be more conducive to "reviewing" your products. (Ever see an unfavorable review in a magazine. outside of Consumer Reports or Gun Test ?)

That said, I don't have a big problem with it. I do have a big problem with *&*, but if the choice is seeing their products vs. not seeing A.S. due to lack of commercial sponsorship and paid advertising, I'll take that jagged pill and enjoy the show.

I agree it is kind of politically neutral to a fault to show reenactors with grease guns, and hobbyists with AR's without at least giving a nod to the tenuous and hostile environment that our sport is in.

Politically neutrally is a positive. It is an entertainment show.

If people watch it and see the shooting sports in a positive light or get interested in collecting, that does more good than watching a speech.

They did plug www.glocktalk.com and if folks went there, they will get plenty of rkba.

They mention the NRA site also.

I know true believers want pure rage all the time but that's not the best way to win folks over.
