President Clinton reportedly plans to visit China and Vietnam before the end of his term, and, according to high-ranking Navy officers, the commander in chief will alter long-standing naval regulations to allow the American flag to fly below that of Vietnam when he sails into the communist nation's territorial waters on a U.S. Navy ship.

Highly placed Navy sources who spoke on condition of anonymity believe this action on the president's part would further devastate already tenuous Navy morale.

As part of his swan song, Clinton reportedly intends to visit two ports aboard Naval vessels. Trip one takes him to the People's Republic of China, which has a regulation that no war ship of any country may enter its territorial waters flying a flag higher than that of the People's Republic of China. According to one Navy source, China and the U.S. have effected a compromise whereby both flags -- the U.S. and the PRC -- will be flown from U.S. naval vessels at the same height.

But visceral outrage is resulting from a proposed change to Navy regulations that would result in the American flag being displayed subordinate to the flag of Vietnam.

Navy regulations and tradition prescribe that no country's flag will be displayed in a superior position to the U.S. flag. However, Vietnam's rules reportedly demand that the Vietnamese flag shall always fly in a superior position to any other country's flag. High-ranking naval officers, speaking on condition that their names not be published, say the reason for all the alarm, anger and career-threatening rhetoric is that Clinton allegedly has either ordered, or is about to order, the secretary of the Navy to amend regulations to permit the Vietnamese flag to be displayed over the U.S. flag.

"I'd like to blow the g-d-thing up!" said one frustrated officer.

The United States Navy Regulations began with the enactment by the Continental Congress of the "Rules for the Regulation of the Navy of the United Colonies" on Nov. 28, 1775. So a long and proud history bolsters the long-held Navy tradition that no country's flag will fly higher than that of the United States.

Commenting on the report, Col. David Hackworth, America's most decorated living war veteran, said, "What's new? Clinton has done everything else to dishonor the flag, why not make it number two?"

He added, "Congress ought to pull this traitor's travel plug ... now."

Calls to the Navy Staff Operations and Special Events office were referred to the Public Affairs Office, which then referred WND to the news desk. When WND outlined the scenario, the spokesman -- whose first comment was "Wow" -- later called back to say, "We haven't been able to find anything on it yet, but we're trying to run the story to ground."

Adm. Thomas B. Fargo, commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, reportedly has visited the People's Republic of China recently also, although the reason for the trip is not known.

During the lengthy period of extreme domestic discord caused by the Vietnam War, thousand of decorated veterans returned their medals to the US government by throwing them at the White House and the Capitol. I thought that was terribly unfortunate, although I understood the feeling of my fellow vets. However, I am sorely tempted to return the personal decorations I was awarded during two decades of service, if Clinton -- an individual who illegally evaded military service -- directs the United States' Flag to be flown below the (North) Vietnamese flag.

The poor judgment, amorality, and liberal pandering of this guy are simply unprecedented.

Not that Clinton cares, but about a half mile from the White House there's a memorial with over 58 thousand names inscribed. The overwhelming majority of those names are Bill Clinton's "baby boomer" chronological peers. In the late 1960s, Clinton's cowardice permitted him to criminally elude military service. Now his arrogance apparently will permit him to dishonor these patriots -- and our nation -- once again. This is shameful beyond words.

Blow what up? The flag? The ship? Vietnam? Clinton?

Hopefully the latter.

Well, the Chi-coms own him so that one's a given. He also had no qualms about being recieved in Tianenmen Square where they executed the Democracy protesters a few years ago. The Chi-coms further showed that they owned his @ss by launching missile tests during his stay. It barely made news here in the U.S., but you can bet the farm that this was China's way of telling the world "we own this chump."

Vietnam is a different story. This is high treason, nothing short of, IMHO. This man thoroughly disgusts me.

FWIW, as a sailor (Quartermaster) under Reagan, we once violated Chinese territorial water on our way out of Hong Kong just to tick them off. We cut across their imaginary line in the water with the Captain chompin' a big cigar on the signal bridge in full view of the Chi-com destroyer coming after us. He just looked at them. We were in and out in 20 minutes but it was an 'F' you gesture on our part.

Where is the trashcan. I need to evacuate the contents of my stomach! The sooner we get Komrade Klinton(tm) out of office the better. Why must he do everything in his power to make things worse by the minute?

Not that I consider symbols such as flags to be all that truly important, but if these seamen want to play a nice prank on the Chinese and Vietnamese they'll fly their flag lower, but fly hundreds of them, lol

I can only hope the CO of whatever ship ends up pulling in chooses to disobey this order. Believe it or not, we really do have some Skippers that still have some serious cajones, and will put what's right above their careers. And to tell the truth, I'm not so sure but what disobeying this order might be career-enhancing rather than career-ending...

When I was stationed in Okinawa a few years ago, regs said that the Japanese flag was to be flown above the US flag. On the bigger, southern bases, it was so. On our little camp, in the middle of nowhere, the NCOs and non-coms took it upon themselves (ourselves) to do just the opposite.

I'd hope that some patriotic BM3 would go ahead and risk NJP for a little boo-boo like this.

When I was aboard the Connie in 1964, I once heard the call man overboard, it was sad then, but he was recovered. :D

I have never been in the military but my own father (born and raised in Greece) and my mother taught me how to handle the American flag with respect (never touch the ground, how to fold it, etc.). This clown is a disgrace to this country and the office of President. I spit on him and all he stands for!

Clinton may be a lot of things..(treasonus, ,muderous, dope smoking, coke snorting, lying SOB to name a few)but he is no dummy.

He would not risk getting on board a naval vessel unless he knew danged sure that the captain would comply with his order.

There are many captains that would not comply and risk court martial for disobeying a direct order.

But remember this, a young man was dishonorably discharged fron the US Army for refusing to replace the flag on his uniform with the flag of the UN. His argument was that he swore an oath of allegiance to the US Constitution...not a foreign government.
He had admirals ,generals and high ranking officers testify on his behalf and offer their support.
Also, remember that Clinton appoints those that are "politically correct" as he sees them.

Most of the Clinton appointees on the cabinet couldnt pass an FBI background check and had to get presidential waviers to be allowed the job. Most of them including the president himself are Marxist. Dont beleive it ? Just look at whats happended the last 8 years.

Should it comes as a surprise that a man that reapeatedly ignores the US Constitution would lower the US flag to other countries ?

Every single veteran in the US ought to be raising hell over this .Let your voices be known.

The naval officer said he'd like to blow the g-d-thing up. I think he meant Klinton. I hope so anyway.
