American Ammunition

I would recommend against it. Bought 250 rounds of their 9mm Luger CCC ammunition back in 1996 and had three jams in my Glock 19.

Not a big deal -- at least on it's face. But I mean jams where I had to get a dowell and pound the case out of my barrel. IMHO they use substandard brass, which can cause serious problems if a case separation should occur.

Greg Monte at Jersey City Armory has reported that he had a few customers complain about American Ammunition -- so JCA dropped that ammo from their line.

Note that CCC = Completely Copper Coated, not FMJ. It has been advertised as FMJ erroneously in the past.

YMMV.

I shot 100rnds of it through my Sig P226 9mm, and it shot ok, but after I collected up all the cases (with the intention of reloading), I noticed that ~80% of the flashholes were totally off center, and the brass casing itself was hairline cracked on prob 50% of the cases. They definitely use substandard brass. I won't buy it again.

I wouldn't use the stuff -- not even once! There have been many malfunctions (some potentially dangerous) reported through TFL. One, of several, threads that suggests American Ammunition (not to be confused with Federal's American Eagle, which is excellent) is unsatisfactory is: [Link to invalid post]

Bad stuff. I see it at the range, usually next to Hi-point guns, and the problems abound. Not sure if ammo or guns are the problem, but the consistency of ammo loading is definitely poor. Blam, blam, B...lam, Blam, BLAMMMMMM! Blam...not too good.

Re American Ammo:

The stuff is not reloadable, apparently the case thickness is the culprit. I reloaded several with LSWC and the reloads would not fit in the case gauge. The problem turned out to be the area where the LSWC seated, it was too thick to chamber.

I purchased 1000 rounds of .45ACP before Y2K and have shot about 200 of it up. It caused several problems with slides not going fully into battery in my 1911 and glock G30. I guess the rest of it will go through my S & W 625 as it seems to be able to shoot anything.

I would not recommend American ( Not the Federal American eagle) ammo.
