American Ammunition - Again!

I still have several hundred rounds of American Ammunition left.

From what I gather, it is not a good quality ammunition. So, I will not buy any more. However, is it also dangerous to use?

Greg Monte of Jersey City Armory sent me a warning about AA ammo in .45 ACP (two of his customers experienced "kabooms," one with an H&K USP and one with a Kimber), but I heard or read nothing dangerous about it in 9mm Luger or in .40S&W.

Should I toss the remainder of the 9's and the 40's (because they may be dangerous) or should I just use them up?

You can send them to me. ;) I'll pull the bullets, shoot the primers then use the brass, bullets and powder again.

The offer to take that ammo also goes for those of you with guns that you just hate. Please send them to.... :D

Seriously, if you reload, that is what I would do or get a friend to do it for you. If the rounds are just supremely overloaded then just dump the powder and use the bullets and brass. Saves you lots of bucks.

I wouldn't reuse that brass. For supposedly new ammo, I have had some missing large pieces.

I will concur with PreserveFreedom. If the brass is bad then definitely don't use it. If you reload then you know what to look for and you've got the instruments to measure with. If not talk with a friend who does. And don't forget, I'm here if you need me. :D

I'd say AA ammo has weak brass as well. Back in 1996, I purchased 250 rounds of 9mm Luger AA ammunition for use in my Glock 19 and Astra A100.

I got three bad jams out of the 250 rounds. No, I don't mean run of the mill misfeeds. I mean I had to take a wooden dowel and pound the fired cases out of my barrel.

I'd stay away from that stuff.

dump the ammo do not shoot it. one of my friends bought some AA ammo from Jersey City Armory and it made his Glock 19 kb. all of the ammo has problems not just the .45.
