Well I know this aint much dealin with guns, but I just have to say, that at my last Cowboy match, I was moved to tears.

All us wanna be cowboys were decked out in our cowboy attire and all just talking and waiting for the match to start.

Then from over in the corner of the match grounds, two lone cowboys were carrying a small blue triangle with little white stars on it. There was no fanfare, there was no call to order.
But everyone of those cowboys stopped talking, turned towards the two cowboys and removed their hats, the ladies placed their hands over their hearts. Ever so softly from a small radio came the haunting sounds of our National Anthem. It seemed as though even the wind stopped to listen and watch as our Nations colors were presented on a solotairey flag pole at a cowboy action shoot in a town that no one in our Nations Capital seems to care about.

I wonder how many other flags are flown over the cowboy matches, gun shoots and gun shows in this nation. And I wonder how many flags are flown at the media get togethers and the liberal outtings that they do.

Yes I am proud to be an American, and so proud of my fellow Cowboy shooters. God bless each and everyone of you and may the Good Lord grant us as Americans the will and the fortitude to stand proud and keep America free.

I don't know about the post not being gun related. In fact I think it is very relavent to guns, the constitution and freedom. I can not see that the three things can be seperated.
In fact may I humbly suggest that this thread be moved to the General Discussion forum to be shared with all the members since some do not make it down here with the cowboys often. I think it may generate some very stimulating discussion.
Thank you for sharing Judge.

Gunslinger

We live in a time in which attitudes and deeds once respected as courageous and honorable are now scorned as being antiquated and subversive.

Howdy Judge,

Thanks for those thoughts. I'm reminded every day that the true patriots in this country are those that believe in RKBA and other stones in the foundation upon which this country was built.

Gunslinger,

I agree-a lot more folks would see this fine post if it were over in General. Therefore,I hope the Judge will understand my reasoning behind closing it here and moving it over there.

I'm moved. Wish I had read this earlier in the day. Reminds me of incident that happened while I was stationed in Japan. I was at the "Classified Materials Burn Site" and had an old flag that needed to be burned. A couple sailors from the carrier were waiting their turn for the incenerator when they saw me remove the flag from my vehicle. Without anyone saying a word they "popped tall" and remained that way until it was obvious to all of us it had been completely consumed by the flames. (Anyone that knows anything about USN sailors also knows we're not exactly known for our "military bearing", so this was from the heart, not from training...)

I've travelled to many countries and despite how nice or quaint I find things overseas, I'm proud to be an American and happy to live in the best country in the world. God Bless America!

This thread reminds of the words to one of my all time favorite songs...Lee Greenwood's Proud To Be An American. I hope it is okay to write the lyrics here.

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.
I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin' here today.
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can't take that away...

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today.
For there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God Bless the USA!

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
from sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Where there's pride in every American heart
and it's time we stand and say...

That I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today.
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God Bless the USA!!!

I cannot hear this song without tearing up, and I have taken a great deal of grief for it, and for being patriotic, but that is how my Mom and Dad raised me. It saddens me that so few of the people in "my generation" feel the way I do. But I have been taught to stand up for my convictions, even if it means standing alone.

Thank you, Judge Blackhawk, for sharing your experience with us. I am proud to be fighting alongside of you and our fellow TFL'ers for our precious freedoms.
