AMD-65 Piston in MAK90

I'm wanting to update my MAK-90 (folding stock etc..) but in order to do so I have to change out the parts to be US made. (U.S. Sec 922R compliant) I ordered an AK AMD-65 gas piston from Tapco. It's shorter than the one in the firearm. Does anyone know if it will work if I install it? Also do you just unscrew the other one and screw this one in? What keeps it from vibrating off?
I'm also doing the trigger group. I got the double lock instead of the single. Anyone know the difference? The weapon had a double in it. Any other suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

no, it won't work. the piston is screwed and then pinned. to remove it from the bolt carrier you have to drive the pin out then unscrew the piston.
