Amazing Value

I bought a barely used Stoeger Condor 12 ga. O/U last summer for under $300.

It's turned out to be well made (fit and finish) and a very reliable shotgun. I looked at all the new junky low priced O/U's and saw this on the used gun rack and have never looked back.

Just wondered if anyone else in here has one and what they think of it.

I know what you mean. I had a $700 Berreta O/U and it just never thrilled me. I picked up a Bakail S/S for $300 and never looked back. Wood to metal fit and metal finish was good. Checkering was shallow and the wood finish was thin. I deepened the checkering, added an ebony butt cap, and layed down a Tru oil finish.

I've looked at the Stoegers a couple of times.

They seem to be pretty hit and miss on metal to wood fit (not uncommon with the valueline guns), but overall the really seem to be a very decent value for the money. And, normally, if you find one in a rack that has fit issues, the next one will be better.

I came very close to buying an O/U 20 a couple of years ago, but decided to hold off and keep trying to find a SxS 20, which I did last year (an older Stevens).

I hate to rain on your parade, but if you shoot it a lot you may come to question the value. The Stoeger Uplander SxSs with double triggers and extractors are not the finest handling guns in the world, but they have a reputation for toughness. They are dirt simple and they work. The cowboy action set is in my opinion very tough on guns, and they have bought and use a boatload of them. I have seen all kinds of problems with the single trigger and ejector two barrel guns. If you are fairly handy you may be able to deal with most of the issues yourself. If not, it can get expensive in a hurry. Good luck.

These are made in Brazil which is better then China LOL. So far it does what it's supposed to do. I left the chokes in it from the factory (full and mod) and it patterns pretty nice. It's heavier then the Beretta's and Brownings.

But then I always wanted a Ruger Red Label....
