Oops, I meant "Amazing FEG 9MM BUY today"

Greetings,

Today, I was calling around looking for some 9MM LRN ammo to shoot in the IDPA practice at my local gun club.

I had no luck locating my ammo, until I called a place called Dusty's Guns and Shoe Repair (honest), who had three boxes of Black Hills 9MM LRN. So I went over there.

Not only did I find my ammo there, but Dusty had a brand new-in-box FEG Hi-Power 9MM with three mags for $284!!!!! Beautiful gloss blue finish with wood grips.

So I bought it!!! Woo HOO. I hope you have a nice day too!!! :D :D :D

Geez.... Some people have all the luck :D
Congrats on the new purchase ;)

Happy Shooting :)

All the FEG pistols are well designed and well made, but they can usually use some TLC in the way of smoothing up and removing the burrs. Once given a little work, they are among the best.

Ledbetter - Congratulations on the find!

BTW, Dusty is the rangemaster at the Winchester Gun Club. A group of us are heading up there Sunday morning to shoot rifles and pistols. You're welcome to join us; I'll be wearing the Mighty Ducks cap.

Take care,

Noban

I'll see you there. I'll be at the 200 yd. rifle range shooting the IDPA practice with Bill Tanner. I'll be the one with the black TFL shirt and the big grin. :D

Good purchase! I've had my FEG since Christmas, and really enjoy shooting it. It WILL use 13 round mags, if you can get 'em. All mine are.

That sounds kind of high for the FEG. I just bought three of them for $180 each. The only difference is that mine came with one magazine. It was hi-capacity though.

Gentlemen - In looking at the FEG 9mm
Browning Hi-Power clone as a good buy for
the price - around my area, $200 plus taxes, give or take - I called Cylinder and Slide in Nebraska and enquired about them. Cylinder and Slide, as many know, for many, many years has done the aftermarket's premier custom work on Browning Hi-Powers. The technician I spoke to told me that the FEG 9mm
Browing clones are exacting copies of the
older H-Powers made BEFORE FN began to
heat treat all of their Belgian pistols' steel, rather than only parts of the the
pistols'frames and slides.
He said that the Hungarian FEG 9mm clones are thus alright to shoot with STANDARD PRESSURE 9x19mm pistol ammuniton, but that the use of high pressure ammuniton or "+P" 9mm ammuniton would in time put excessive wear on the pistols and probably wear heavily on the barrels' locking lugs. Buy them; shoot them, but use them wisely with appropriate lower pressured ammuniton. DSC

M16, you got a SMOKIN' deal on those two. I paid about $225, and the cheapest I've ever heard was $209. In any case, I think they are a true "best buy". FWIW, I don't have any reservations about shooting any plusP. If I should ever wear out a barrel, I think I've saved quite enough in initial cost to spring for a Bar-Sto and still come out ahead. :)

I believe there are a couple places here in town that I could go pick one up for $199 plus tax right now. I live in Tucson. One of these will probably be my next 9mm purchase. I want a 1911 before that though.

Gentlemen - With all due respect to those who would use high pressured cartridges in guns whose steels do not have the molecular strength and tempering to handle that ammunition safely, it's not generally only a question of the barrel's wear. Rather, the issue is risking ignition of the fired cartridge in a damaged barrel's chamber or a warped slide (or both and more!). These things will either cause the pistol not to lock correctly into battery, or cause the original tolerancesto be battered and peened beyond a safe working condition.
One well known example of such misuse is shooting .38 Super cartridges in old Astra Model 400 9mm Largo pistols. Sure the high pressured .38 Super will chamber and fire in this pistol, but continued use of the .38 Super round in the Astra 400's unlocked, blowback action 1) will eventually damage the pistol beyond repair, and 2) may cause a "Ka'boom" in which the slide may tear off the frame and hit you in the face (more than just an "ouch!"); the grips could blow off, shattering wood or plastic into your hand with explosive force - or ripping the barrel's chamber into shrapnel (sp.) causing you hurt. Your hand, eyes, face and parts of your body are thus possibly placed in harm's way.
Shooting can be fun and rewarding, but not at the risk of causing a firearm related accident which may place you in the hospital or worse! Shoot responsibly and be safe. DSC.

Hey!

Thanks for all the replies. We hardly ever get the rock-bottom deal here in Santa Barbara, or the wide selection. It was amazing because I had been looking for one of these for a while, and this one looked very well made and blued. It called out my name, if you know what I mean. It is a recent safety-decocking model, don't know the number cause don't have the gun.

DSC-Probably will try shooting +P rounds in it to make sure they feed and occaisionally thereafter. Stay tuned to see if it goes kaboom. Based on your post, I will look further into the matter first. ;) Still have to endure the waiting period.

Ledbetter, I bought a FEG PJK-9HP, with the black plastic grips, last year for $199 here in southern CA. I found this pistol to be accurate but the grip is short for me, leading to hammerbite. If you have large hands watch that you little finger doesn't touch the toe of the mag or it will interfer with the mag safety (I choose not to remove the safety at this time). Mine hates the Russian Wolf 115gr. steel case ammo. I had a case expand in the chamber and had to drive it out with a cleaning rod. The trigger is the heaviest of all the handguns I own. The manual lists these ammo specs:
"9x19mm|Metal case|123gr @ 1120fps"
"9x19mm| JHP |115gr @ 1160fps"
"9x19mm| JSP | 95gr @ 1350fps"

Destructo6: Winchester Canyon Gun Club is in Santa Barbara County, off Hwy. 154. Email me for more info.

The model I picked up is the P-9R, Model 94.

I think I can do a picture:
