for HD purposes! I guess so. Here's a little Browning BPS Micro 20 gauge that I have loaded with Federal Personal Defense 24 ball buckshot. I wish I could get an extended mag for it though. Only 3 shot capacity as is. Shooting it is allot of fun. Took out to a local sporting clays range and ran a box of shells through it. I actually hit a few!! Picked it up used for $300 bucks... :)

Prettiest HD gun (and maybe even more practical than some of the exceedingly tacticool guns) I've seen in quite awhile.

Creeper, I just wish Browning produced an extended mag so I could have 5 shots at my disposal. Other than that, it's a good little gun and very easy to shoot. It has a very short throw slide and bottom ejection. The gun was mint and I paid less than the cost of an 870 or Moss 500, which aren't even in the same league quality wise.

Here's the ammo I use...

Just out of curiosity, I searched for about 15 minutes... nothing. However, I'd be willing to bet that a shotgun specialty company like Briley or Sure Cycle would entertain the idea of making you one. Even a sleeved down 12 ga would be feasible. Sure, it might set you back a few bucks, but it'd sure be neat. :p

If I still had a lathe, I'd be able to make you one in a few hours... have any friends with a lathe?

Using a Browning for HD is kind of like using a Mercedes to deliver pizza.

Funny you say that Doyle... my quite attractive, early 40s-ish pizza gal drives a very nice "Pagoda" 280SL. I asked her once, and she said it's been in her family since 1970.

Cheers,

Defense to me....means a Wilson Combat CQB, 5" 1911, chambered in .45acp ....and a lot of guys cringe when I tell them that a nice/and relatively expensive 1911 is my primary carry gun ...or home defense gun --- but then, why would anyone rely on defense - with a gun they didn't like or that they didn't shoot their best with?? and my Wilson CQB - is one of my 1911's that I definitely shoot the best with .../so its what I rely on !

( and besides it'll all be over in about 10 sec anyway ) ...or I'll just fight my way to my safe....( and I'll grab my Browning BPS Hunter model 12ga with a 28" barrel ...and probably my Benelli Super Sport 12ga with a 30" barrel .../ and when you drop the plugs out / I can put 1 or 2 more shells in there, if I need to) ....and some 00 buck that I've loaded up and keep in a box on top of my safe.) ....not that I don't have some other guns in there for defense...but nothing wrong with a good, reliable 12ga or 20g shotgun.

It's all good ....:D

Slugo, FIRST, from Browning on the Micro:

Magazine Capacity
2 3/4": Four in magazine, one in chamber. 3": Three in magazine, one in chamber. 3 1/2": Three in magazine, one in chamber. A three-shot magazine adapter plug is included.

Slugo, are you a woman?
I think the 20 gauge is fine for HD in many and most circumstances frankly. In your case the ammo is fine for in and around the home. I recommend just such 20 gauges to women all the time due to the overall size favorability. The stock is a little small for the above-average size man but alota guys like short stocks for defense and that 20 gauge is one handy-handling gun. The 22" barrel makes it OK inside and useful for sport shooting, especially for gals, of all sorts.

Like new for $300? It's be in my home too. 20 ga. 2-3/4" #3 buckshot is probably the most prevelant. Can be had relatively cheap often (mine? $0.80/rnd.).

Wanna push it to basic 12 ga. levels? First, remove the 3-shot block. Then...

Apparently it's just you and me slugo. I use my 12ga BPS for home defense too. Short smooth throw on the action and something about the geometry of the gun directs the recoil to your shoulder rather than causing muzzle rise, the bead stays on the target! Bruised the crap out of my shoulder the first time I used it on stationary targets because repeat shots were so much fun:D Three ACCURATE shots downrange in about two seconds was normal, four boxes of ammo later...My gun does have the 3 shot plug in I've been told they are a PIA to put back in once removed. I've never had a gun that inspired this much confidence or was this much fun! Used other pumps, no comparison. Funny thing is I fell into mine the same way, incredible deal I ran across first, my buddy the Waterfowler went nuts when he found out what I paid!

the ammo I specified above, 24 ball Federal Personal Defense buckshot is equal to two 240g/44mag/JHP. That will take care of anybody...

Ill give you the chance to make 25% right now and Ill pick up the shipping. :D
I love BPS. Have a 12ga and I have never seen another pump gun in its class. Only drawback is they are a little on the heavy side.
BTW- when I take off the barrel cap there is a plug that comes right out. I would think yours must be similar.
