Am I suppose to attach a sling to the rotating thingy on my rifle?

I have a pretend AR-15. A mossberg 715t .22 cal.

It has 1 spot on the back for a sling attachment. but none near the barrel. It does have a plastic piece build in that I could clip it on.
Is this what it is made for? If so why? What is the point of the spinning part?

Ignore the man behind the curtain,,,

Here is a picture of one with a sling attached.

Lots of people will tease you about that little rifle,,,
Usually it comes from a person who has never even held one.
They treat it as if it were the red-headed stepchild of AR style .22 rifles.

In reality it's a nice little plinker,,,
They took the workings of their 702 Plinkster,,,
And wrapped a tactical shell around the action and barrel.

The 702 Plinkster is a very nice little shooter,,,
I've had one for years now and like it very much,,,
It's always fed anything I loaded it with and is very accurate.

None of my friends with their stock 10/22's can outshoot it,,,
It holds it's own against any other .22 out there.

I recently attended an Appleseed shoot and loaned my 702 to a friend,,,
During the course of two very windy days he shot over 600 rounds,,,
That ammo was mil-surp Remington, purchased from the CMA.

Guess how many malfunctions he experienced,,,
Over two very windy and dusty days of shooting?

None at all!

I recall about 2-3 years ago,,,
American Rifleman did a review of several AR style 22's,,,
They rated the S&W and others very nicely but the 715t was "damned with faint praise."

That means that the rifle performed as well or better than any reviewed,,,
Try as the writer might the writer could not deny the facts,,,
It cycled all of the test ammo very well,,,
And grouped as well as the others.

But since it is an AR style in looks only,,,
They played down the positive aspects of the rifle.

So if anyone rags you about your Mossie,,,
Tell them to go pound sand.

Practice with it and outshoot them,,,
It just makes them go ape. :D

I actually will tease anyone with any .22 rifle. They are just toys anyway, they don't have any purpose other then shooting for fun. But I had a thread on that already.

I just got this one because I wanted my toy to look a little cooler, so I'm not worried about it.

But that front swivel doesn't come off, does that mean I have to get a clip on sling? It's hard to tell from that picture.

You're on your own,,,

I tried to give you some info on your Mossberg rifle,,,
But since you think it's nothing but a toy,,,
Which in fact it is most definitely not,,,
You can figure it out all by yourself.

The OP is DEAD WRONG about the .22 having no purpose! In this part of the country it is the caliber of choice for squirrel and rabbit, and often for racoon and possum. Many consider a shotgun for squirrels unsportsmanlike. A .22 pistol is a normal carry by trappers.

Agree 100% with gunslinger. The .22 is not only a great target gun and plinker, it's a favorite of squirrel and rabbit hunters.

You don't hunt, do you?

Can someone post a link to a sling that will fit this gun?

Slings are not made for each model gun. The attachment system you have on your "toy" will dictate how to secure the sling, but pretty much any sling will work.

I don't know where you come from. But in Kentucky we use shotguns for small game. With the thick trees it's hard to bag anything with a .22.
People buy a .22 for fun, not to hunt with
