Am I missing something here or is this guy missing brain cells?

I assume it's a spoof or attempt to make jest of the current prices being asked for, and in many cases being bid, for ammuntion on sites like that.

"final selling price of this pristine example of Federal ammunition exceeds $1.00, I will spilt all the money in excess of $1.00 with the RimfireCentral.com Charity Drive"

And he's got a more than $5 bid on it

He's (hopefully) making fun of a certain seller on gunbroker.com who sets his opening bids at grossly marked up prices. When I say grossly overpriced, I found a similar posting claiming the buy now price of Blazer Brass .40 S&W for $0.70/round. I saw the exact same ammunition at Walmart for ~$0.30/round ($15 a box) when you can find it. I would check with the charity he's claiming to help first though before placing a bid, because it not hard to just say it's for charity.

Or it just could be me!

And who would be missing the brain cells? Me or the guy willing to pay $5.00 for a 2.5 cent bullet?

Yes, it started out as a joke, but then the bidding got up to $0.78 and that was before I decided to make it a charity auction! I will most likely end up writing a check to the RimfireCentral Charity Drive with the proceeds and adding a few bucks of my own on top of it.

This auction is almost over, but here is a link with more info.

Who knows, I might just put up another one of my 3000+ rounds up for auction... maybe a matched pair this time!

Like PT Barnum stated, there is a idiot buyer for every idiot seller. ( Realy couldn't use the term I wanted with out getting things deleted by the staff)

If you read the whole add... and then this thread you realize

it started out as a joke and ended up as a way for someone to give a little money to a charity drive.

I've seen folks go to a charity auction and do this all the time.... they planned to donate a certain amount of money and end up bidding on something not worth anything or at least not worth much...

I once saw two people get in a bidding war over a baby pig.... the little critter ended up being sold for $3,000!.

Have a good friend who offered up her hair.... over 4ft long.... bidding went up to 7 grand... then the auctioneer turned it around and said who will beat that by bidding to have her not cut it.... final figure.... $15,000!
