Alternative sighting systems for revolvers.

As some will know I have a 4" Redhawk.

A long time ago I had queried fitting a scope to it. Needless to say I soon realised this was not really a good idea on such a short barrel.

Subsequently, I ordered (but didn't pay upfront for) some FO sights for the same gun. That was 9 months ago and they still haven't arrived. For some reason getting stock from the States is a herculean challenge for some shops...

So... Instead would one of those small red-dot reflex sights be an option for where the rear sight sits?

I mean one of the small (SMALL!!) systems where there is a single lens perpendicular to the firearm that the red-dot shines onto.

Are they ever used? Worth investigating further?

I have several on auto pistols, but none on a revolver yet... but I know alot of speed shooters ( bowling pin shooters & the like ) that put them on compition revolvers, so I see no reason you couldn't... would this type of sight be easier to get ( actually ) than fiber optics ???

Truthfully probably not one to fit the Redhawk specifically.

Thing is the FOs are still somewhere in a US warehouse, but there are a few people who stock those small red-dots.

The biggest issue is getting one that will complete the recess of the original rear sight...
