If I change the recoil spring guide of Colt Model 01091 into a "full-length recoil spring guide, rod", would it be alright – not making the pistol vulnerable to such mechanical defect as the model is not really made for that purpose having a full-length recoil spring guide, rod.

Need your help!!! Thanks.

stdalire,

I've put full length guide rods on every 1911
I own. Why?!? Because I think it looks kool.

Doesn't seem to effect reliability one way or the other.

Does add a ounce of weight up front, which I like.

Some folks have said it helps the recoil spring last longer, but I shoot target loads so my springs last several thousands of rounds anyway.

Good Luck...

Joe
