Almost Enough Guns But...

My wife made a snide comment about how many more guns do I need and I said, None, I'm pretty happy with what I have now. Must have forgot I've been looking at Coonan 357's. And now I'm youtubing vids and lusting for a Glock G40, 10mm longslide. I'm not brand prejudiced and have never had a Glock. I've fired Glocks and other striker fired pistols and just am not a fan of the trigger. But I've seen where you can get aftermarket parts to make them pretty smooth and around 3.5 to 4 pounds, so I can live with that.
There is one dealer at most of the shows who has a complete Glock inventory, so I will be paying him a visit. Sorry Honey, spoke too soon.

Get the Glock 40 long slide 10mm instead of the Coonan.

With that long barrel, you'll be meeting or even exceding .357 magnum power levels if you use Underwood or Double Tap 10mm ammo. Plus, your capacity will be doubled and reliability will be better on average. Get a .40 S&W barrel for it and you'll have cheap practice ammo you can use too.

If I was gonna get a 10mm I'd probably get a 1911 in it.. but that's just me.
Glocks are a fine gun I won't talk trash about them just not my cup of tea.

Ask her how many purses or shoes does she need? i've yet to meet a female over 18 that did not have a collection of one or the other or both.

P.S I don't have 10mm but from what I hear you'll wanna probably hand load.
Apparently.. MOST common 10mm ammo on the shelf is loaded light and you won't get the full power the caliber has to offer.

There will always be "one more gun...."

Always-and I'm 74 years old. Get used to making and inventing innovating excuses to the wife. Also, practice sneaking long guns into the house without being detected and learn to store your guns in ways that make it difficult for her to spot a newcomer. Lie with a rehearsed poker face as a last resort. Well, last resort is probably divorce but, after being happily married for the past 48 years, I'm the wrong guy to suggest anything that drastic. ;)

Sounds like you and I have a lot in common! If she spots a new one I say, "well Dear, I've had that one for years". Usually works.

Yeah... I'm in the same boat... promised wife I was done buying guns for a bit. Reloading equipment, accessories, and scopes were not discussed.

The very act of discussing these things with your wife is a bad idea and rarely ends well. Best to be quiet and act covertly-okay, sneakily.

I do handload. In fact, I've had brass and dies for 10mm for years, awaiting the pistol that would use them.

HAH!!!

Gave yourself away big time there. You're one of us. There will ALWAYS be another gun.

Welcome to the forum. Good luck.

Ha! This sounds very familiar. I treated myself to a shotgun for my birthday last year. Then a semi auto this spring. Then I told her I was good for a while. That was a lie, I just didn't know it at the time. Now I "need" a 22 revolver to eat up some crap ammo. I know once I get it, there will just be another make and model taking its place on my need/want list.

When you find that great price or hard to find piece, you just gotta pounce and deal with the consequences later.

Well, you were truthful.
You may not need another gun but you surely want more.
Now, if she asked how many more you want, you may have to fib a bit.

dgludwig I'm glad I'm not the only one!

So last year I told her no more and I went to a local event and imagine my surprise when I won the grand prize a 50cal muzzleloader with scope. I come walking in the door and I get the "You wern't going to buy anymore" and it was fun telling her "I didn't buy it I won it!"

As I learned from guy older and wiser than me; the only gun you need is...the next one. And yes I keep looking for that next one. :D

It literally never ends.

At the end of last year I told my fiancee I would try to stick to 1 per year. I've already bought two this year and am planning on picking one up next month.

But hey, there's always next year :D
