Alito... Yay or Nay

Sorry if this has been repeated before, but what is your current opinion of Alito. I liked the way he handled the hearings, and he seems to be fairly pro states rights anti big government, like Republicans 20 years ago. He is a shooter http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/01/09/D8F172500.html although of shotguns which means he could still be anti-gun. John Kerry was a shotgunner apparently, playing "mindgames" with the deer, hunting them with a double barrel trap gun loaded with birdshot after illegally transporting the gun across state lines somehow.

From what I've heard and from what I've seen, I think he'll be Ok -- assuming that it all hasn't been a smoke screen. I think he'll be confirmed (over the Lefty 'Rats' protests), and then we'll see.

YAY!

Anyone who gets Schummer's and Kennedy's panties in an uproar as much as he does has to think more the way I do then they do. I am all for that.

Anyone who will curtail the reach of the Interstate Commerce Clause gets the yay from me.

The ICC is THE number 1 tool used by the FedGov to intrude on people's lives. Everything from prohibition to gun control to affirmative action to abortion.

You've got a point there. One that does give hope.

Sounds super.

Proposal: if full auto is made legal (practically, I know it technically is today, but you know what I mean), and Alito has anything to do with, I say we all chip in and buy the guy a couple hundred really nice cigars and maybe a nice humidor. Maybe someone should find out if he smokes first :D

Well, the smear campaign (which was, by the way, feeble and disorganized) didn't work, so I'll predict that he'll be confirmed.

Nay.

I think he'll be confirmed, and I'm certain I won't like his stance on abortion laws or drug laws or the first and fourth amendments. If someone forced me at gunpoint to choose between Alito and some socialist nominee, I don't know what I'd do.

Nay.

Sure, i'd love to own a machinegun, but his complete deference to the exec. branch scares the urine and feces out of me. His justice department memo in '84 stating that he believes that the Atty. General should have IMMUNITY in cases of wiretapping american citizens scares the feces out of me.

President Hilliary Clinton having these kind of powers literally scares me into cardiac arrest.
