Alessi ankle holster.

I need an ankle holster for my backup gun. I was wondering if the Alessi ankle holster can be worn when one wears boots. I NEED an ankle holster to wear when I wear boots. The Alessi ankle holster looks awesome, AND it is a lot of $$$. I NEED to know if this can go around boots.

It is funny, as you are the second person to recommend that holster!! What is it that makes it the best? I take it is very stable and comfy? You have worn one with boots? ( I mean like tactical boots, not cowboy boots.) Thanks for the assitance!! I appreciate the response. The pix do not show much or give any info. What kind of attachment does it have? What is the backing like; sheepskin or something else? More info about the holster would be very much appreciated!

9teen11spv,

The holster is made of leather which is attached to a black elastic material. Mine is for a revolver and the gun is held in place by an elastic strap that goes behind the trigger guard. The strap is held in place by a snap fastener located at the bottom of the holster. You draw by simply pulling the gun through the elastic strap. Re-holstering can be a pain especially if you are wearing cowboy or Roper style boots. With tactical boots there should be no problem.

The elastic material wraps around the leg and is held in place by Velcro. There's about an inch and a half of Velcro that goes from the top to the bottom of the elastic material.

The holster area is lined with sheepskin but I glued a second layer of sheepskin because I often wear it against my ankle and pull my sock over it. I wanted the extra padding.

I've worn it with uniform Roper boots, cowboy boots, military combat boots, dress shoes, sneakers, loafers, etc. I've never had the gun come loose nor has the holster been uncomfortable. On one occasion, I was knee deep in flowing water and both the gun and holster survived with no problem. I've gone to the ground with a suspect or two, gotten in foot chases, climbed fences, etc, with it and never had the holster or the gun come loose.

I've had no experience carrying an auto in one. I don't like autos in ankle holsters.

Maybe some other members can give you some more info,

John

Do a Google search on it and you'll find nothing but praise about it.

THANK YOU for your help!! I appreciate it. I will be carrying a revolver in the ankle holster. This is going to be my backup weapon.
