Al Gore is soon to be our Prez

The ugliness is too much to bear, but the reality is that the proven strategies of the Democratic Party work, almost every time, especially given a sympathetic media and uninformed/apathetic electorate:

A) Massive wealth redistribution. The Dems want to use the "surplus" (why do we keep increasing national debt if we have this surplus anyway? I digress) to "shore up Social Security." This just takes the Ponzi scheme to the next level by using general tax revenues to buy senior votes. Bad, bad policy especially seeing as how the scheme was never viable in the first place. Good money after bad.

B) Another big entitlement, prescription meds, for (guess who?) the biggest identifiable voting block in the country, seniors. Nothing against seniors, but that money for your prescription med benefit has to come from somebody, usually a working person and very possibly someone who can't afford prescription meds for themselves or thier own family (kind of touchy on this one because with my impending move, I may well fall into this category). When you take money from one class of people who don't vote as a block, and redistribute it to another class of people because they'll vote for you if you do, you've just confirmed the absolute worst fears about Democracy.

Why don't they just stick a gun in my face and take my money that way? It'd be more honest.

C) Race and Class politics. The most hateful, negative, destructive, divisive political sentiment in America today. Whitey and the wealthy cause pain and suffering and poverty (Sharpton and a few others will throw 'the Jews' as oppressors in there for good measure, but don't expect it to make the news. I guess you can be an anti-semite if you've got the right credentials). The Dems can fix it for you. Works like gangbusters.

D) Women. I hate to lump them all together especially since I learned conservative values at my mamma's knee, but can't they see how "The Kiss" and Gore's earthtone sweaters are just manipulative pandering? Are women that easy to manipulate? The polls seem to indicate they are. God help us. (By the way, am I the only one who thinks that kiss looked like a kiss between two nervous, inexperienced 12 year olds? Have Tipper and Al ever kissed before? I assume they practiced and it still looked wooden.)

E) Unions. How stupid do they think we are? Witholding thier nod from Gore for as long as they can. Like we're gonna believe they'll ever give a Republican the nod? Puh-lease. Hopefully individual union members will see through the nonsense this year, but don't bet on it.

F) Stupidity and prosperity. The masses who think that Clinton/Gore created prosperity in this country. Why not keep going on this track? The stupidity of people who think that government gets money from somewhere other than the taxpayers.

G) And finally, the last reason that Gore is a shoe in, because Bush and the Republicans are playing thier game by thier rules. Gore has a prescription med plan that plays well to focus groups, so Bush has to jump in with his own; Gore has a plan to 'fix' Social Insecurity, so Bush has to jump in the hole after him. Makes Bush look like a loser without any direction. It becomes a question of not IF, but TO WHAT EXTENT, we're going to socialize whole sectors of the economy. Gore wins that one every time.

Look out, boys and girls, President Gore is coming to a country near you (and maybe bringing a Democratic House of Reps with him).

And yet with all that the only poll to have him ahead is the Newsweek poll which didn't use likely voters and had a small 750 subject sample size.

Go to vote.com or zogby or Portrait of America and cheer up.

i was at a gas station in Cumberland, MD yesterday

on the scrolling display on the pump were ads for things for sale in the store

i really liked the "we have ammo in stock" message!

there are a whole lot of us out there,
& we are done with the Clinton regime.

RickD,

What's amazing is they're in a virtual dead-heat (NewsWeek, aka "Pravda USA" aside) despite the fact that A) Gore is a categorical loser without an original thought in his head and B) he's as guilty as Clinton in selling out America to the Chi-coms. Nobody gives a hoot though. He ought to be trailing by 20 points.

And we have yet to see what "October Surprise" Clinton has in mind for us.

I saw a segement on the morning news featuring a behavioral specialist. Basically what he said is that bush, chenney, and gore lack charisma and do not speak effectively. According to this guy, libierman was the only one that had positive speaking traits.

Gore for 4.

Jack,

Nice post. I think you spelled out the Dem's winning strategies very clearly. All of the talking points always seem to be the Democrat's, and the Republican's just try to come out showing that they can be just as much of a Democrat as the Democrats. This sounds like a great way to loose what should be a shoo-in election for Bush.

To the Republican's defense, however, I suspect that they simply don't get carried by the media when they articulate their own message. The Democrats want to control the dialogue, and the Media want to help them do it. Bush gets air-time when he announces a me-too prescription drugs plan. Any issues of importance to conservatives simply get air-time for Democrats who oppose them.

I am frankly very depressed right now because you are right, Bush should be WAY ahead by now given what this country has gone through with this administration. The fact that he is not is a testimony to the power of television (and newspaper to the extent that Americans can still read) to control the thoughts of the population.

Gore may very well win. I know people who are going to vote for him. They watch CNN every day and consider themselves to be very "well informed".

Even if Bush wins, I don't see things improving much since the liberal media still control the national dialogue. They would love to have four years to trash a stuffed-shirt like Bush. It would really make up for all of the Clinton scandals they've had to help cover up.

There's a radio talk show host I listen to who says, "Liberalism isn't an ideology; it's a mental disorder." I think he's right. People will elect a crook and a traitor like Gore just to prove to themselves that they weren't wrong to elect a rapist like Clinton.

Go figure.

My memory cells recently engaged and took me back to the 1980 election between Carter and Reagan. All throughout that election cycle we were treated to breathless reports of the closest horserace in memory. Yep, that one was close and it went right down to the wire. Yep, at that time a real small segment of undecided voters was deemed those who would select the next president. I could not help but notice how my personal contacts and experience showed strong revulsion against Carter and his "malaise" while the media blew him kisses.

So I bit off on the horserace and decided to settle in for a long night watching the returns. Eight o'clock the results started with Peter Jennings proclaiming Reagan the winner and started shoveling dirt in Carter's face. Fifteen minutes later (8:15 pm) Carter in effect gave his concession speech to a collection of reporters. "What's this?" I inquired? Shortly thereafter, the truth came out. Carter did not have a chance in H*ll of winning because the electoral college vote was an unmitigated blow-out even though the popularity polls showed a horserace.

The lesson I learned. . . . . the press has a vested, financial interest in seeing to it that the election was a horserace. Point two, the press has no interest in covering the horserace from the perspective of the electoral college because it is precisely set up to avoid close elections. Popularity polls are important only in state elections for national ticket electors. The electoral college is where the election will be won or lost.

Next time you see a popularity poll take the time to find an electoral college poll summary. You can find one at www.portraitofamerica.com . It shows something other than close race.

We are all concerned about this election, especially if we have any reverence at all for Constitutional law and the Bill of Rights. But do not let yourself be manipulated by the media. They are not neutral. They are strong socialist/fascists advocates. They are antagonistic to individual liberty. And they lie. It is up to you to find out where the lie is.

I think the similarities between the 1980 election and this election are strong.

People, people,

Don't give up yet. The battle has not even started. Sure we are seeing polls from Time/Warner, Zobie and CNN showing Gore with a 10% lead. And these are very left oriented polling houses. They are just backing their boy. Remember that there are three types of lies: Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.

If the pollster samples 150 people from a liberal haven like Manhattan or LA or Boston, that is what you will get. It is called skewing. ANother thing to take into consideration is that a sample of 500 people IS NOT A STATISTICALLY VALID sample for the 250,000,000 people that live in the US. For this sample to be accurate they would need at least 5% of the total population. Do the math. The pollsters do not have the time, money or staff to pull this off.

As a point of fact, several of the "Buffy St. Soccer Mom's" at the office have announced that they are voting for Bush. Darn near knocked me over. These are middle class liberal ladies who are the main target of the Gore campaign. These gals saw through the lies, are sick of getting their paychecks pillaged by taxes and see Gore as cut from the same mold as His Billness.

Don't give up. Get to the voting booth and strike a vote for democracy. This is not a one issue (guns) presidential race. If Gore gets in, we will have more "peace keeping actions" at the whime of the UN, more gutting of the military, more give away programs, more attacks on the Constitution, and on and on.... VOTE!

I'm going to get flamed to death for this next one, but please do not throw away your vote by voting Libitarian. Their time is not here yet. If it was I would be voting that way. I will not this time because we must get rid of Gore. I really believe that Peroit's running gave the election to Klinton in '92.

Jsut my two cents worth....

I hate to see Gore win. Maybe Alan Keyes was correct about Gore winning. We'll see. However, as far as demographics are concerned, the Adam Clymer comment did to my demographic (white, protestant, half redneck, half sophisticate male) what "the kiss" did for the liberal soccer moms.
Remember when R. Reagan told the protesters in San Antonio to "shut up"? It is frankness and not pandering that wins the votes frequently.
Oh, I am the demographic that will lose health care for my family if I have to buy drugs for the old. Dammit, they had at least 50 years to think about retirement. Didn't they think they'd need drugs ever? My 1YO son might need prescriptions in the next few years, and the only way I have to pay for it is by credit card. This will cause me to hold the elderly in utter contempt. No more holding the door for the little old ladies. I will now insist that they get the door for me and my son.

There is cause for concern. I'm concerned. However, there is this much in Bush's favor: polls tend to favor Democrats as opposed to election results-- by about 1.5%

So, we'll see.

Bush has simply got to hammer Gore hard, though; if he were asking me, I would say to get back to education. Point out that anything Gore says about strengthening standards for teaching is a transparent lie, given his indentured servitude to teachers' unions. Point out that his saying he's actually going to do some good is just more of the same, politicking to focus groups, despite being full of crap.

Education is a big issue now, and what I'm suggesting would resonate with people. They'll believe it. Bush can win on it. Got to hit Gore on the socialized spending policies along with the duplicity at once-- forget all of this "he-said-no-he-said" debate sh*t, and all of this other stuff distracting Bush now.

Bush has to say _something_ on prescriptions and all that, but now he has. I'd leave that behind now. The more he talks about this, the worse it is for him.

I have never considered becoming an expatriate until now.....God forbid that Gore become President, but it sure looks that way. I can see it now: hunting areas made smaller than they already are; license fees doubling; only certain types of ammunition or else; hunting calendar cut shorter....on and on.

Hi all, just wanted to through in my opinion. I think alot of Americans give the position of President to much credit. The real power of the government rests with congress. What we really need to hope for is that the Republicans hold on to a majority in both house's of congress. If we lose the congress it doesn't matter who is president, we are screwed. Don't get me wrong I know if Algore gets in office he can appoint Federal Judges and so on and I know he would veto any Pro-Gun legislation, but if we lose congress and Bush is President he can veto Anti-gun legislation but a Democraticly held congress can over-ride his veto. So when we all go to the voting both in November lets remember to keep congress GOP.

Montana Mike, I agreed with your position up until the last four years of Clinton. At that point it became really evident that a chief executive with no morality, ethics, honor, or respect for constitutional law is dangerous beyond our understanding. We now clearly see that character is all important for constitutional safety. The founding fathers evidently did not see the arrival a an amoral despot in the presidency. In short, the constitutional checks and balances did not work in this case. Congress evidently has no ability to override a president bent on breaking the law and everything else in his path.

Congressional elections are very important to the direction this country takes in the future. A chief executive with a moral foundation is crucial to the right here, right now.

Well, for all you statistics buffs out there, only 1 VP has gone on to become president after serving 8 years as vice pres. The odds are against Al Whore, and when CLINTON/GORE ARE OUT THE DOOR.......JANET RENO HAS A JOB NO MORE!! YAHOOO!!!

Here's the real story, per Vote America:

I find this very optimistic.

"The founding fathers evidently did not see the arrival a an amoral despot in the presidency."

Waitone,

Yes they did. That's why we have the Second :)

The way I see it, if Bush wants to jump 20 points in the polls, he should call the whole Democratic party and all their idiotic supporters a bunch of "Major League A$$holes"!!!! He needs to stop playing these silly little political games like coming up with Gore matching entitlement schemes, take the Dems to task over all their "Claims of Prosperity" and win this election. I'm going to be some pissed if he doesn't!!!! Can you imagine how you'd feel watching Albore at the MTV inaugural ball this January, all the little liberals wetting themselves and thumbing their noses at us?!? I know how I'd feel, and I think I'd need a 55 gallon drum as a barf bucket! For God's sake, let's VOTE THIS SLIMEBAG OUT OF OUR LIVE'S FOREVER!!!!!
