AK Sight Adjustment

Okay, on my last AK, I had a big problem with not being able to hit anything. I could never get the front sight adjusted. I've got a VEPR II on the way, now, and my roommate has got an AK coming. So, tell me about front sight adjustment. I know there's a tool you need, but how, exactly, does it work, where's the best place to get the tool, etc.? On my previous AK (Maadi parts gun) I tried to use needle nose pliers, but to no avail.

For minor elevation adjustments, you use a little tool which looks suspiciously like this:

..... or a pair of needle nosed pliers, as you found out.

For windage, you use this:

Or, you can drift the front sight over with a punch and hammer, but the clamp tool is much more easily controlled.

Buy the tool. It's cheap, it works, and it will help you avoid damaging your firearm. AK's can be surprisingly accurate, and certainly enough so for self defense work.
