AK rifle, Milled or Stamped?

What is the weight difference between a milled and stamped ak on the average. I was thinking of getting the lighter stamped versions, but now am thinking that the milled gun would be more accurate and last longer. Is the weight difference enough to deter most shooters from bothering with the extra accuracy or is it negligable? any happy sad mad reports on milled reciever ak's?

I visit AK-47.net regularly, and I believe the consensus is that stamed receivers are as accurate and durable as milled receivers. They are significantly lighter (1lb +?)

There is some controversy on the subject, and owners of milled receivers will claim they last longer, but no one has ever worn out a stamped receiver so no one knows yet.

The milled rilfe is stronger but you will never notice under human conditions. To me its not really worth the price increase unless you just have to have one for a collection or something. I believe that the Stamped AK's have 15 parts that are observed by the ATF and the Milled ones have 14. That may help if you are buying one that does not already have a pistol grip. It has something to do with the Trunion or Trunion Block. I cant remember but I am sure someone here does.

The milled AKs have the trunion milled as a integral piece to the receiver. That loses you one bad part.

I can't disagree with anything that's already been said. So, I'll just say that milled AK parts aren't as common as the stamped versions. This problem is probably minimal though.

Have you had a chance to play with both versions?

i've shot a couple stamped ak's and they were nice, at the last gunshow i went to i saw a parts kit from a hungarian milled receiver(cut to pieces) with the finish all worn off the metal and the wood and it actually looked good, kindof like an old winchester. i was thinking of getting a milled one myself to use and abuse. also heard they were more accurate, on the average. The weight difference issue is a pound or so huh? not too bad.
