AK problems need help

I recently purchased an Arsenal SGL31 and decided on putting a mako folding stock, ergo grip, and midwest industries rail. I'm just about done, but I'm having one issue....

Putting the gas tube back on I'm having a hard time pushing the pin/lever down to lock it in place. I have tripled checked that the gas tube is sitting flush and correctly, but for the life of me I can't push the pin/lever down to lock into place. It seems that the gas tube needs to be pushed forward more.

I will say that the rifle is brand new unfired and taking it apart was a little challenging given everything was extremely tight.

Any suggestions?

Did your arsenal come with the standard AK tube cleaning kit? If so, there is a slot on the side which fits the tab on the gas tube lock lever, and makes a handle to improve leverage when moving the lever.
Make certain the tube is all the way down...my new Saiga gas tube has a spring on the end closest to the rear sight....I had to give the top of the tube a smart slap to seat it.

I have a M70 and a Draco. On the M70 it always goes on pretty easily but I had to take a hammer (I didn't want to, but it's an AK so it survived) to get the tube clamped back down. I only had to do it the first couple times though. I thought I was doing something wrong or not lining it up right but it was just the tolerance of the rifle. Perhaps that's what you're running into. If you're sure it's lined up properly, I'd give it a shot.

Hey, guys thanks, for the suggestions. I lightly hammered the gas tube down further and again hammered the pin down. It works and I'm 100% now! She was tight:D.
