Ak-47 warped barrel

Ok... I got a romanian AK-47 and i put about 400 rounds through. I did it in increments of the 30 rd mags. Id switch off between firing my AR and the AK. I just sold the gun and the guy who i sold it to told me that the barrel is a little warped to the right... So im just gonna give the guy his money back and grab the rifle. Ill probably just take it to a gun shop and see what they can do. But how much would it cost to replace the barrel? And what kind of barrel should i get? As well, would there be a way to maybe re-"warp" the barrel back into place or would i better off just replacing it? Thanks.

I was just thinking about something. Is this common with AK's? Has anyone else had this problem or am I the only sorry S.O.B. that this happened to? Thanks...

I saw a Romak 2(?) that had the barrel, presumably at the trunion, canted 5-10 degrees to the right. The barrel was straight, mind you, but the trunion was crooked.

The barrel should be less than $100 and having a smith do the work shouldn't be much more than $50 or so I'd think.

How do you suppose the barrel was bent? Was the rifle dropped or used as a pry bar?

I havent the slightest idea how the barrel could have been warped. I mean i know that they get really hot after putting rounds through them but I just set it in the case while I shot the other. This really ticks me off cause I sold it so I could buy a Remington 700 PSS. Now that I have to give the guy back his cash I dont know if I can afford it. Or Ill be able to get the gun but wont be able to shoot it cause I wont have a scope. Sigh...

As Destructo said about the trunion being canted to the right... is that normal? I mean it wouldnt surpise me... Ak's arent made for superb quality. Cause I have not the slightest idea how it could have happened. If it normal then im just gonna tell the guy that i sold it to to keep his pants on and I keep the 300 and buy a leupold scope. :)

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to imply that canted barrels were normal, but I have seen them.

I've put 200+ rounds through both my Norinco and Romanian AKs in a single rapid string without any noticeable damage to the barrels. It didn't happen by shooting it.

It was either assembled improperly or damage by rough handling.

I'll bet you $0.05 that the barrel is not warped, but instead has "MAADI syndrome."

A lot of Egyptian MADDI AK series guns are known for having the front sight assemblies canted to the right a few degrees. usually, a quick push with a sight adjust tool solves the problem unless the sights are way off.

I have never seen one with the actual barrel warped. This is usually easy to check by simply stripping the weapon and looking down the barrel from the rear.

Hope this helps!
