Ok, first I have a 74 now as well as an ar, Im buying another with the tax refund but an kinda stuck on which one. I have an idea for what I want to do with both, my hought go kinda like this;
If.I get the 74 (I want a Polish Tantal) I can swap flash suppressors for a shorter A2 birdcage style add an ultimak and use a dot sight I have, Im cheap into a handy fun carbine I can take fishing (Im not afraid of a.fish attack just like plinking between makeing up fishing lies) I already have magazines and would only have 2 kinds of ammo to worry about
If I grab another 47 (Ive had a couple) I can have more.versatility in what ammoI can fi/d the cheapst, I aleady have several mags, I COULD take it hog hunting, I would have a whole new project to play, with lol.
I can do either one for close enough in money thats not the decideing factor, Im just curios what you guys would choose and why. Realisticly, I probably woukdnt use the AK hog hunting, but it is a fun idea lol. It kinda makes sense, the round is comparable to a 39-30 and is heavy enough to penetrate the tough hyde and tissues, a tactical rsd.or green dot would contrast very well on dark hairedud caked oinkers, and it just seems like a fun idea. Before the obvious statements about legality come up, I live in Mo, and have spoken to a CA, he even thought it would be a fun idea, and they have no regulation on method or weapon selection in regards to oinkers here yet.

and unless you plan on shooting beyond 200m, there aren't too many advantages to the 74 (except faster follow up shots...). There are more HD/SD/Hunting rounds available for the 7.62 variant as well.
