Ak-47 Question

How does the knife style bayonet attach to an AK-47? I have not seen an AK or the knife bayonet up close before and knowing how US bayonets connect to the M-16, Garand, etc. I don't see how the AK bayonet connects. Most of the pictures I have seen don't seem to have a lug for it to connect on. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks

If you would like a bayonet on your AK, either pay a ton for preban or help get the illegal legislation that banned them struck down.

First off Dangus, you don't really have to pay a TON for a preban AK. I see preban Norincos all the time in the $7-800 range, which is about as much as a new postban AR.
Second, you left out the third possibility, which was to ignore those unconstitutional laws.
Me, I don't see a bayonet as being that important.

I want a bayonet so I can do some drive by bayonetings.

Actually I have a preban AK but it did not come with a bayonet. It is a Poly-tech AKS side folder, it doesn't have a fold down type of bayonet and I was wondering if I could get a bayonet that would fit it. Not to use, just to give it all the accessories if I decided to sell it. I just haven't been able to figure out how the bayonet connects to know what to get. It doesn't look like it has a bayonet lug on it, but I haven't seen any AK's that do look like they have one. There is an strangely shaped notch under the front sight right, it doesn't look like it would support a bayonet but I have never seen an AK bayonet up close before. That was why I was wondering how it attached. If it connects like the US type then it can't support a bayonet, there is no lug on it.

If anyone knows how they lock into position, please let me know.

By the way, I paid $500 for it, 4 mags, and 1200 rds of Chinese ammo. It was in practically mint condition.

    ;) :p

Thanks guys.

That picture helped. From that angle I see that there is a lug, further down the barrel that locks the bayonet on. You usually can't see that from side view pictures.

It would just ruin the accuracy anyway.

does anyone know of anyone who has been jailed or even fined for violating that stupid law against flash hiders, bayo lugs threaded barrels and pistol grips on semi auto's? It's the stupidest law in the world, yet i wonder if it is actually being enforced or if it is ignored like the law against front trauser pockets(prohabition era law still on the books to prevent boose smuggeling) I know that the death toll atributed to my sks bayonet is great(ly small, like none)
