I have a friend that is selling his "russian" made ak for $600. It comes with a folding stock and polymer furniture, no rails. It is 7.62x39.

Would this be a good deal?

I know nothing about the ak series rifles, but I would like to.

Thanks

Roughly- $600 is not a bad price.

What you need is who imported/assembled it, and then do a bit of internet saluting for that model if you want to nail it down

There are no Russian made AKs imported into US, they have to be worked on converted to made in US (forget what the process is, log into AK
Files forum they have good knowledge on that part and AKs in General

Hard to say with out seeing it. There is such a wide range of prices on AKs. I try not to spend more then 400 but that's about impossible to do anymore. I have several AKs and SKS's of various makes and models and some of my favorites are Chinese.

If ya want it and ya get some mags with it I would say that price is prolly not out of line unless its beat up bad then again some of my favs are bear up pretty bad

You can find AK's for alot cheaper. It better be a very nice AK for that. I have two ak's 1 norinco i paid 325, 1 wasr10 i paid 300. My norinco was never fired, very clean. Good luck:)

Is it Izmash made? If so it will have that marking on the side... If it is, then yup, it's a good price. They're between $800-1000 new.

if it's a saiga then it's probably a good deal. al true AKs have to have the recievers cut and have to have at least 6 american made parts in the reassembled version. usually it's the trigger, reciever, and furniture. however IIRC the saiga is a sporter rifle and has a lot of modifications made so it is no longer a "real" kolishnikov design and therefore importable. you can convert them back to AK configuration and they're good rifles but expensive.

Generally speaking, $600 for a Romanian AK is a ripoff, particularly if we're talking about the most common varieties, that is the Century-assembled WASR-10 or GP-75 type rifles. These used to be much cheaper at around $350-$370, but even today you shouldn't be paying more than $450 or so.

depending on condition (assuming it looks good), Id offer 400-450. I just recently bought one for 350, the furniture was pretty beat, but everything else looked superb, much better quality than most I see.
