AIRSOFT ?, GAS GUNS?, SAY WHAT?

PLASTIC SIG

New member
Yep, its my birthday and someone got me one of those sig replica airsoft pistols. it shoots those little plastic bb's like you would see a 6 yr old playing with in his back yard. But, this thing is really fun to shoot and is great for practicing in the house (drawing, dry firing etc.) Its accurate up to about 15 feet and the ammo is re-useable.

After looking on the web to see how these things are used for training and recreation i stumbled across some gas guns. The site has no info on what the gas guns do but they are the closest thing to real ive ever seen. The prices reflect that, being they are almost as much as the real thing.

My question is, what are gas guns? how do they operate and who uses them for what? These are really neat pistols and i may be interested in buying one myself.

P.S. this thing is so real looking!

I hope i dont grab it when the SHTF thinking its my "real" sig !

Thinking about that makes me cringe!!!

Any info on the gas gun is appreciated.

Washington DC does not allow citizens to own guns, Yet it's the murder capital of the U.S.

The gas guns are powered currently by freon. So you can't really get them here in the states. The pistols we can get are the cock each time. Dasiy used to make them with shell casings too. There are rifles you can get here that are cock and shoot, as well as motorized ones you can fire full auto. Instead of using compressed freon, there is a motor that moves a piston for the air to shoot. You can get a replica of any gun made including mini guns, and m-60's.

Most correct...the gas is easily available. I have a Caspian comp'ed .38 super AirSoft (the deluxe metal version) gas blowback that was my friend in Japan...let me practice in that gun-unfriendly land.

Still fun to play with in the house here in Texas.

Interesting. I had no idea they had gas for us. The last time I looked into it, (5 years ago) they couldn't use them here. Hmm that means you can get the back pack powered mini gun. (evil maniacal laugh) Too bad they were listed at 3000 bucks. But that is one step closer.

For about $250 - $400 you can get the battery powered kind in smg and true assault rifle models, select fire. A close friend of mines has a Sig 550 and MP5 in the battery powered model. Both are select fire. Kinda fun to play with if you got the extra cash.

Yes the battery powered ones are fun. I have the m-16a1 battery powered. It holds 69 in the clip, and you can shoot quite a while before having to recharge the batteries. The Japanese use it instead of paintball guns.

the gas guns are like people have said semi-or full auto matic.
i invested in a full auto life size, almost real weight styer aug airsoft(500 dollars) and it is almost worth the money, but i had to get a pellet trap to keep from losing the 6mm plastic bb's. oh and these hurt like hell if you ever get hit with one at close range.

Besides the Caspian-type, I also have a full-auto gas-blowback Beretta 93R. When I was shooting it a lot, my house was coated in little green plastic BB's...between my wife and I, we would have to buy another thousand every three months or so. We have NO idea where they all go.

Probably the same place one sock ends up after escaping the dryer.

Glad you entioned the Beretta 93R, bacause I didn't recall the model number of the gas/Airsoft gun I looked at last Sunday at Dallas Market Hall Gun Show. An old friend had a large selection of this type gun, pistols and long guns both, semi and full auto, on his table. I was fascinated.

He was telling about a bunch of juvenile gang bangers slouching through the show and trying to pool their money to get "another" full auto Beretta. In his never-ending quest for knowledge, Chuck asked for what purpose they used these little gems. They indicated they were just the thing for "drive-bys," in that you didn't get arrested for possessing a non-gun, and it is really neat to watch people scatter when you started shooing at 'em with A MACHINE GUN!

My other buddy and I interrupted each other wih instantaneous comments about "social Darwinism" and "Natural selection in action." Maybe they choose their target neighborhoods carefully, but you must understand, Texas is a "Shall Issue" Concealed Hundgun License state, and there are a LOT of CHLs in Dallas. (Not to mention a bunch of guns being carred wihout benefit of the licenses.) I keep watching the newspaper . . . .

Best regards,
Johnny
