What's the deal with airguns that shoot pellets? I have a Sig 229 that I love, but can only get to the range about once a week. RWS makes a "sig" airgun that replicates look, feel and, supposedly, trigger pull. Are airguns a good means of practicing between trips to the range, or are they merely toys that I haven't outgrown yet? I live in the city, so it would be great to be able to set up an indoor "range" in my apartment. I would appreciate any feedback.

There are a lot of good air pistols now that replicate the feel and handling of full size guns (except muzzle blast and recoil). They are an excellent, convenient, and inexpensive way to practice. I have a Crossman that is styled after a Colt .45ACP. I fill a box with rags as a backstop, go into the garage and get a good workout. The trigger is heavier than my Colt but it's not a big deal. I'd recommend them for easy training!
