Air France Concorde Crash

Many of you may already know about the Air France Concorde that crashed today, but just in case here's the story. http://fullcoverage.yahoo.com/fc/breaking/concorde_crash/
(That first picture of the aircraft in flight, with the flames and smoke trailing behind it is really scary.)

Even though incidents like this aren't too very common, this one seems espescially surreal. This aircraft hasn't experienced anything like this in it's thirty year history. Granted there are only a handful of Concorde's in service, thirty years without a major mishap is almost unheard of for any type of passenger vehicle. I can still remember back in 1987 when British Airways did that promotional tour with one of their Concorde's. I was lucky enough to be home from school due to snow and got to see it fly out of the Asheville Airport, which adjoins my parent's place. That was really something special to me, even more so because I was a big aircraft nut back then. Not to take anything away from the tragedy of any unfortunate aircraft disaster, but this one really makes me feel heart-broken. :(

I'm with you, saw the Concorde and actually got to tour it while stationed in Iceland. Took an ambulance out to the north runway and it took off over us. WOW!!!!!!! VERY LOUD!!!!!!!

Truely tragic. :(

Truly a horrific event. I am so sorry for the passengers, the crew, the victims on the ground, and their families.
