Aimpoint Comp ML-XD + flattop: which mount?

I'm planning to put the Aimpoint Comp ML-XD on a flattop Bushmaster carbine. I'm curious about which mount to use.

For mounting directly to the flattop (i.e. no swan sleeve), here's the options I've seen:

1) buy Aimpoint's "railgrabber" mount ($85) and spacer($10). Spacer is required to get things lined up w/ iron sights.

2) dump a buttload of money on GG&G's Aimpoint ring ($165) or cantilever mount ($212). Ouch!

3) buy the A.R.M.S. #M68 ring ($89.95) and spacer ($7.50).

I've seen people deride option #1, saying only that the railgrabber sucks but not explaining why. Anyone here know?

Option #2 is just plain too much money. Option #3 seems to be the best.

Are there other options I don't know about? Anyone have experience w/ the ARMS #M68 mount? Thanks.

I have both the Railgrabber and The A.R.M.S. #22M68

Glock-A-Roo,

I have both mounts. I use the Railgrabber on an Aimpoint carry handle mount and I use the #22M68 on a flattop.

I originally bought the Aimpoint and found it satisfactory. When i bought a Comp M for the Colt 6920 I tried the Aimpoint Railgrabber and found that it didn't sit high enough (at the time I was unaware of the spacer for the Railgrabber, it wasn't shipped with the early ones). I settled on the A.R.M.S. mount with spacer.

A lot of people don't like the long knob that sticks out to the side of the Railgrabber, but I've never found it to be a problem. Some people have complained about the levers on the A.R.M.S. mount getting caught in the brush and opening, but I am unable to see how that could happen.

Both mounts reliably return to zero. The A.R.M.S. mount is a little easier on and off because of the throw lever mount. I would not hesitate to buy either mount again. Price will probably be the main consideration for me if I buy another. The A.R.M.S. mount is more gray then black if matching the receiver color is an issue to you.

I have the Railgrabber on a Bushmaster flattop shorty with my Comp M. No complaints here. Note that my iron sights are a DPMS detachable rear sight and Rock River Arms front sight -- my Bushmaster came from the factory as a V-Match without a front sight base so I had to put the iron sighting system together with "aftermarket" parts. But with this system, the dot height is fine.

My Railgrabber came with the spacer, not sure why they're making you pay $10 extra. With the above setup, I do not have to use the spacer to obtain the proper height.
