I've been mulling over my next gun purchase. Yes, yes, I know, I haven't even gotten my FAL yet, but hear me out.
See, this year, I started getting annuity money from the Air Force (my dad was a 26 year vet), equivalent to his monthly Senior Master Sergeant retirement pay. However, it wasn't on last years taxes, so I also got FULL financial aid, basically leaving a lot of money in my pocket. Of course, the gravy train ends next year, when the USAF money is on my taxes, but aside from having to save up for next year's tuition, that's irrellevant. Besides, I get the next chunk of my inheritance a year and a half from now, and that'll cover my college expenses nicely.
At any rate, I also get the interest money from the big trust fund my dad left me at teh beginning of the new year.
So yeah, I have more money, by far, than I deserve.
The reason I'm spending a lot of it on guns is because guns are expensive and I want to get them while I can afford them. I especially want to get the UN-pc semiautos now in case the AW ban doesn't die in 2004.
Okay, that bit of rationalization aside, I've been thinking that I want a Robinson M96. I don't know. Yes I do. You know what it is? The weapon is DIFFERENT. I have a *thing* for guns you don't see every day, I really do. The uniqueness factor weighs heavy on many of my gun desires.
Now, the Robinson is expensive. But, I'm getting that interest payment in the New Year, about $1200.00, and that would cover most of the expense.
There's a lot of things I like about the Robinson. It's different than an AR. It looks cool. It has the nifty barrel swapping thing. It has the uber-nifty top-feed thing. It can come with GREEN furniture (GASP! Is it still tactical if it's not black??? I want to get green furniture for my FAL, too...).
So, a couple questions.
-It does have AR-M14-M1 style peep sights, right?
-If you have one, do you like it? Was it worth the cost?
Thanks for listening to me ramble. Don't worry, I'm not being as foolish with my money as it may seem. I am not in debt and always make sure I have enough left over to cover emergencies (like the $800.00 in repairs my car needed last month).
