Aguila ammo

I recently picked up some Aguila .22 ammo. Saw it mentioned on a number of posts . It's rapidly becoming my favorite. Always priced well and the load seems to be pretty "hot". Even like it better than CCI ! I know they make other calibers as well but haven't tried them. I have a couple of 9mm, .223 and a .308. Anyone tried them in Aguila? Thanks in advance.
 
Can't speak for the .22 ammo, but a while back I tried Aguila and found it to burn dirty in both 9mm and .45 ACP. It's been a long while now that I think about it but once I have a bad experience, I am not one to make the same mistake twice.
 
As long as I can get Aguila .22 ammo, that's what I buy.
I used to only shoot PMC but when it went the way of the dodo I found that the Aguila is the same or so close it doesn't matter.
 
I have some Aguila .38 Special cases that I got in the last batch of once-fired cases for my K38. I found that the primers were of the crimped-in type. Had to ream them. Luckily for me, there were only a few out of the batch of 500. Other than the extra work of gettering rid of the crimp, they seem to be on a par with the rest of the assorted cases.
 
Bought a case of .380, Haven't shot any of it but boxes are nicely made and the ammo looks "clean".

I don't know how "dirty" it is when shot but I don't much care cause I've yet to find "clean" shooting ammo.

I couldn't find any complaints before I bought.
 
Can't speak to anything but their .22 LR. I've shot their standard velocity LRN and personally have found it very accurate. I've also tried their 60 grain Sniper SubSonic ammo and it groups pretty good. Shoots very low if you're sighted in with 30-40 grain bullets tho. Really needs a dedicated rifle set up for it to maximize effectiveness.

Also, in all the .22's I've shot it from, both pistol and rifle, the SSS doesn't keyhole even though Aguila recommends they be shot from a barrel with a faster twist.

I've tried their Super Colibri and I think it's a gimmick. I think one would be better served using a .22 Short for pest control, it's just as quiet and much more accurate and powerful.

So far I haven't been disappointed in their .22 ammo and I like the way it smells when I shoot it.
 
Aguila Super Extra 38 gr HPs and ArmsCor 38 gr HPs are my preferred .22 LR ammo; with ArmsCor slightly edging out the Aguila for accuracy and consistency in my rifles.

...But both have been discontinued. :(

For domestic stuff, the best I have found, without spending stupid money on Mini-Mags, is Federal Champion Target (40 gr RN), or Federal GameShok (38 gr HP).


Aguila centerfire stuff gets very mixed reviews, due to some people thinking it's dirtier and smokier than whatever it is that they normally shoot, and the strange odor from the burned powder. I don't shoot much of it (9mm and .40 S&W so far), so I don't care. But even when I do... I don't have a problem with it.

Armscor is very much in the business of manufacturing .22 ammunition. I just bought two bricks of their .22 LR and a brick of .22 Magnum. I think the .22 LR is hollow-point, but I don't remember for certain.

Their current .22 LR HP offering is a 36 gr bullet.
The one that worked for well me had a 38 gr bullet with a different profile.


Ford still makes cars.
...Doesn't mean the Edsel is still in production.
 
I've had great results in several rifles with plain standard velocity Aguila and even better results with 40gr subsonics.

I found MOA accuracy from this at 50yards from a green mountain heavy taper barrel. I wouldn't have tried it except that I put together a sort of sampler pack from Academy. For that rifle, it is better than Federal Match.

I bought some Aguila ammo in 9mm. Wasn't happy when I opened the box. The casing is slightly expanded . Haven't tried it yet but I hope that won't cause feeding problems.
