Aftermarket Triggers for Winchester Model 70

Been looking at a couple of new Winchester Model 70s at the gun shop. The stock trigger has considerable creep in the three I tried. I know Jewell and Timney both make aftermarket triggers for the Model 70. I would appreciate any thoughts, recommendations, and alternatives you may have on an aftermarket trigger.

Other question, how difficult an installation is dropping a new trigger in a Model 70. Should I attempt myself, or is machining and fitting best left to a gunsmith required?
As always, Thanks in Advance for the responses.

If you are getting this rifle for hunting, I would keep the factory trigger and just have a good 'smith go over it. The stock Winchester trigger can be adjusted to make a very nice trigger. It also has the advantage of being a very durable and simple design.

If you have a chance, get some action proving dummies and see how the rifle feeds.

Make sure the bolt sleeve is right and tight and the safety functions smoothly. Make sure the bolt doesn't have alot of play.

The trigger can be tweeked to super sweet for hunting or for target fit the Jewell- you won't need a better trigger than that... The other stuff is harder to fix...

I put a Jewell in my Model 70. It's a great trigger, but not a drop in. My firing pin required a good bit of fitting to get the saftey to engage again due to the way they ground the original to fit the factory trigger.
