Aftermarket pistol barrel - which one? Why?

With so many aftermarket pistol barrels on the market, how do you differeniate them from each other? Where is the point of diminishing return (spend more money but, don't get appreciably better performance)? Which ones would you buy if you had the money and the need to replace a factory pistol barrel?

Some of the pistol barrels I have looked at:
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Bar-Sto
<LI>Jarvis
<LI>Federal
<LI>KKM
<LI>Ed Brown
<LI>Wilson
<LI>Kart</UL>

and the list goes on.....

This intended to be a general question not specifically aimed at 1911 Government Models upgrades or, Glocks, ......

Thanks,
Sid

Bar-Sto for 1911's, and have them fit it.

I also have a Clark 400 CorBon I fit in my 1911, a Jarvis barrel he fit in my Glock M20, a Nowlin barrel Bob Cogan of AP&W hard-fit in one of my 9x19 Witnesses, and I've fit 9x21, 40S&W, 41AE, and 38 Super barrels from EAA in my other Witnesses.

If you want the best send your gun to Bar-Sto. If you have a 1911 and you want to try yourself buy a Kart Easy-Fit.

Just my studied opinion. After all, the only interesting guns are accurate guns.

Kart, Nowlin, BarSto, Douglas. No particular order. A great way to find good barrels is see if the pistol is shot is bullseye competition and check to see what the winners are using.

Right before Christmas I purchased an Olympic Arms stainless 5" barrel and bushing for my Springfield Armory 1911A1 Govt model. I looked at a lot of the ones offered in Brownells catalog, but for $70 plus $12 for the bushing, I think I got a good deal. I had to do very little fitting, (used my factory 2 piece barrel for a template). I can't believe how accurate this gun is now! Feeds and functions great even with my 185gr SWC handloads! Olympic Arms makes barrels for many other guns too in different calibers. The barrels may still be on sale FWIW.
