aftermarket magazines

Is there a web site that rates quality of all the aftermarket magazines....example cdnn has asian military m1-carbine 30rd clips.... they are 12.99 each,but are they any good?...thx Chris :cool:

Well does anyone have any knowledge of how the various aftermarket mags work? Is there one brand better than another? USA mags vs Promag?..example

No website that I know of has such a comparison.

However, here is my list of "good" aftermarket mags:

1. Mec-Gar
2. PMI (for Mini-14)
3. John Masen (ditto)
4. USGI M16 mags, save the bad ones mentioned in the mag FAQ at ar15.com
5. Any 1911 mag made by one of the 1911 custom houses (e.g., Wilson Combat)

Well, USA mags have a terrible reputation. I've never tried any though cuz I've haven't found many people that recommend them.

I got some ProMag magazines for a Beretta Cougar 9mm and they work great. No problems at all.

But, I also got some ProMag magazines for my Sig P220 and they were absolute garbage. The were constructed wrong and even after modified to actually work in the gun, they jammed at least once EVERY single loading and finally one of them split.

So I don't know what to tell you about ProMag. Apparently it depends on the gun.

That's all I've tried.
