Aftermarket Carbon Barrels

I am interested in acquiring a Carbon Fibre wrapped barrel in .308. 18 inches would be perfect.

I played with a couple of Carbon fibre barrelwd rifles at SCI convention last week adn they were incredible light. These full size, traditionally scoped 300 Win Mag rifles put the Steyr Scout to shame in the wieght department. (there was one right there for comparison).

The company who made those rifles was not offering the barrels alone, I don't want a $3000 rifle, just a relatively expensive but incredibly light barrel.

Any info would be appreciated.

I have a friend who told me that he planned on getting a Carbon Fiber wraped barrel for his 10/22. I'll ask him and see what I can find out.

One thought....what would a .300 mag that light kick like?

The rifles I saw were indeed .300 Win Mags. Personally, I am not worried about the kick. I'm no he-man, but realy, for a hunting weapon, I'll take a little jolt. As light as these guns were, thoguh, I would defintely but some sturdy optics on the beast.

AS a side note, one of the guns had wicked looking muzzle break to help curb the punch.
