African Dangerous species

Someone please tell me what is the rank of species that kill the most folks (not necessarily hunters, just people) in Africa each year.

I *think* that it's:

1. Hippo
2. Crocodile
3. Elephant
4. Cape Buff
5. Lion
6. Rhino

But I'm not really sure. I know hippo is #1 however.... Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Not counting mosquitoes of course.

My guess is that the deadliest animal in Africa is man. :(

I'm pretty sure your first two are correct, maybe vice-versa in different years, but I don't really know where the others fit in.

Sad..........but very true.

I'm pretty sure that Hippo is #1 like the OP said. Others look to be in an order that makes sense. I was about to say that elephants should be higher than crocs but not so sure about that since elephants are getting rarer and are only in certain areas of Africa now.

I have heard (don't know for sure), but it is supposed to be something like
Hippo
Croc
Hyena
Cobra
Cape Buffalo
Warthog
Lion

Not too sure after that, but I do know that elephant is way down the list, even though when you do run into them they can be very destructive. Rhino is even farther down than elephant, although they are not something you want to come across on your morning walk to the local well.

Hippo, Croc, Cape Buffalo, Elephant, Lion, Cobra... Actually I have no idea. But I do know that the hyena will not attack anything larger than itself. (watch the gods mjust be crazy part II :D) I know the cape is way up there, higher than hyena. Cobra is deadly with it's poison but FWIU it does not cause many deaths duer to it's shy nature.

The most dangerous one to hunt is Leopard, I believe. I'm not sure if it's #1 in deaths or injuries. Once you see that blur of teeth and claws racing at you making that damn sound... even big buff seem less ruthless by comparison. That ripping roar alone will make your blood run cold.

I think the hippo kills the most people in general.

Hippo is rated as the most dangerous mankiller by statistics. Which brings up the question: Is this by statistics of everyday serengetti life or for hunting?
