I dislike unfluted on any revolver.

I especially hate it when revolvers have engraving in it (i.e. Bearcat, and some Bisley model cylinders). Engraving is like tattoos, IMO they mutilate looks.

I love both, but my pref.

is for unfluted cylinders. I really thing they look cool. Probably because I don't seem them as much.

My Single Six WMR cylinder is unfluted as is my Smith 627.

the 610 is my favorite revolver but damn i wish it had a "normal" cylinder, dont mind the unfluted stuff on SAs too much

I see far more revolvers with with fluted cylinders than without. As was mentioned above I don't mind unfluted on single actions but do not care for them at all on double actions. The unfluted cylinder to me just gives the appearance of an unfinished gun.

Can somebody explain what the differences are?

Fluted cylinders are slightly lighter, and have grooves cut into the front of the cylinder (I'm not sure grooves is the right word to use, but I can't think of another one). The grooves are mostly for looks, IMO.

Unfluted cylinders are slightly heavier, and are solid on the front part (i.e. no grooves cut). Again, my wording might be bad and I might be confusing you more?

Ok. So if you look at Drundel's link from above, the fluted would be the S&W 686 and the non-fluted would be the one below it(The Ruger)?

I usually agree with C.R.Sam, not this time however.
To me unfluted says: I contain a stout, hard hitting caliber, and I need the extra strength.

Yes, I know about the dimension between chamberholes being smaller than the extra metal on the outside. But somehow it just makes me feel better having the extra meat.

In my family, all happily belivers in the 2nd ammendment, the young or those frail of wrist don't shoot pistols with unfluted cylinders.

though i like the look of both,i would prefer the unfluted for a defensive revolver,as it gives the enemy less to grip if you need to struggle for the weapon.
S&W trail boss unfluted would suit me fine.

I wouldn't buy a new SA if it was unfluted. Like C.R. Sam says, cheap. Regarding newer DA/SA guns, unless weight is a consideration, I don't care. Price has gotta be right.
