Aegis belt from Ares Gear?

I have been seriously contemplating purchasing either an Aegis or an Aegis Enhanced belt from Ares Gear. Anyone here have one of these belts?

Pros/cons,...likes/dislikes?

Color combination you went with?

Please post pics if you got 'em
 
I think for the money... An awesome leather belt can be had.

This looks like a solution to a non existent problem
 
Thanks for your opinion. The Aegis belt may very well be a solution to a non-existent problem...much like your comment was an opinion in search of a non-existent issue.
 
Sorry, didn't really mean anything by it... It is honestly too much money for a belt of any design.
I've never seen anything that can out perform a good leather belt.

If those belts were in the 30-50$ range I'd be tempted to try them out.

If you cannot see that your comment was useless in answering any of my questions, added nothing to the conversation, and instead was pretty much the smartass remark, that's your problem.

Many people spend several hundreds of dollars on a concealed carry weapon. These same people then spend more money on a good carry holster. Yet many of them forget the linchpin of comfortable and secure carry...the belt. Much like how you, Mr Hiott, are very familiar with how a good fishing rod, a good reel, good fishing line, hook and knot are all part a system needed to successfully land a fish. Do you buy cheap rods? Do you put cheap line on a $300+ Penn or Shakespeare reel? I doubt it.

So, spending $120+ on a top-shelf carry belt is much the same for me and many others.
 
I didn't mean any disrespect in my answer.

I've carried large concealed handguns for a number of years and only gave my opinion. I did research both belts mentioned and could not see any benefit proportional to the cost of those two belts.

They look like they are quite supportive and sturdy...

Without actually owning one of these belts all I can do is speculate.

I doubt I will spend a weeks worth of my families food on a belt, when a superior leather belt can be had for 1/3rd the price.

Superior? I think it's pretty hard for you to say that a leather belt is superior to something you've never tried. On the contrary, belts like the Aegis are superior for quite a few people. For example, I can make my belt exactly how tight I want. Tighter for a full size steel gun or a little looser for a single stack subcompact without resorting to loosening a full inch. They're also typically stiffer, wear less, and last longer.

OP, I'm not much help on Ares. I recently decided to replace my old Wilderness and was looking at them when I found a great deal on a SOE (that I'm still waiting on). Knowing what I know now about the company I wonder if I chose incorrectly. Everything I've heard about the Aegis belts has been great so I don't think you can go wrong with them.
 
True I've never tried one, not needed.

I'll rephrase to "sufficient" leather belt.

Leather has always worked for even the largest of handguns., and has all required features
 
The "buttons" on the clamping shaft of the buckle are too small to use with gloves. They also can't be felt with cold or cold & wet hands.

Well lots of people want more than "sufficient". A 92 Corolla is sufficient transportation. An 800 sq.ft. house is sufficient shelter. Bologna sandwiches with water is sufficient food. Heck, 1 shotgun, 1 pistol, and 1 rifle is sufficient for anyone's needs. I guess some of us just want more.
 
First I get slammed for saying leather is superior...
Then for saying it's sufficient lol....

The only 120$ belt I will buy will hold up 1500$ pants...

If a leather belt cannot be found to hold up my large handgun... I'll make one lol...

I have dealt with John Willis personally and I will never deal with him or any other businesses associated by him or his 'friends' ever again.

Besides, Ares Gear is easily as good if not better than SOE gear.

As for the rest of the posters, if you don't have an answer to the original questions or can only "speculate",...why are you even here? :confused:

I do not see that as a disadvantage. Quite the contrary, I see that as a means to ensuring the buckle doesn't loosen inadvertently from rubbing against gear or equipment.

They also can't be felt with cold or cold & wet hands.

Assuming that your comment is a possibility, then I would also have problems operating the similarly sized magazine release button on my pistol. So far, that hasn't ever happened yet.

So, are we to assume that you actually have experience with or own an Aegis belt based on your comments?
 
As you obviously don't want any comment that might be negative, even though you asked for it, I'll leave you to your advertising.:mad:
 
The AGEIS belt is quite popular right about now. I'm not that cool, so I just run an HSGI Cobra Buckle Belt. I used to be a leather only kind of guy, but now Kydex and nylon rule the roost around here anymore. To each their own. I'm quite happy with the HSGI Cobra buckle gear.

A lot of guys I know run the AGEIS stuff. In fact, I'm close friends with the guy who did the CNC design of the buckle. I haven't met anyone who doesn't like the belt who actually owns one. The buckle does nothing for me, personally.
