Advice for Floridians & city dwellers if Bush wins...

Lock & Load.

This is not a joke.

It's right before your eyes. Look at a county map of FL and see which counties were won by Gore - urban centers. Just look at the exit polling data for who carried what demographics nationally. The divide could not be clearer.

This is not what Republicans & conservatives are all about, but the Dems/Liberals have succeeded in turning this election into a race/class war.

This could be Rodney King in LA magnified scores of times, centered on every urban & outlying suburban area.

Y2K, 11 months late.

Yes, we are in the middle of interesting times. Riots if Bush gets it are definately possible. So far the Gore camp has been careful to keep the rhetoric low-key, and they've stated that they have every intent to honor the vote of the electoral college. This is very much to their credit--a prompt and unstinting concession will be what is wanted to defuse this thing. If they instead start court fights, watch out.
 
I don't know if this has any bearing on it, but, as I understand it, as far as Y2K is concerned, the new millenium actually starts January 1st, 2001. So it might not be eleven months late.
 
It was noted as Y2K approached, that we do not actually enter into the 21'st century until 2001, because the 1st year is "0", or something like that. Many predicted the end of the world on Y2K because of the round 2000 years from Christ... 2000 years, in this case, actually puts the pin-head on 2001. Timing? Armageddon?

I'm honestly not a dooms-dayer, I don't think the world will "come to an end", but Rome also didn't fall in a day.

I've got a nasty feeling that this is going to turn into another "civil rights" and "race war" in FL, especially now that ole' Jess is stirring the pot down there. Are those people completely F&*%KING BRAIN DEAD? I just heard his speech, and his followers are all 'hoo-yaa'n behind him. He just in the past few minutes was informed that "pssst... as long as you're claiming to know the system here in FL, stop saying 'pull lever'- it makes you sound like a baffoon."

You can bet people will take to the streets in the name of race, and every other highly ethinc diverse area will do exactly the same. (They do as they see, not as they THINK, you know).

Los Angeles, Chicago, NY City, I'd hit the highway now if you can... it's gonna get nasty. I just have that feeling we're going to hear "marshall law" in the next 30 days.

We’ve recently had a massive influx of threads here in Legal & Political due to the FUBAR election. There are so many ongoing threads now that it is hard to keep up with them all; and many are duplicates. There are a lot of great comments spread all over the place and many of them are going to get overlooked otherwise.

I am going to try to close the newer ones that duplicate existing ones, just like always. I am also going to be closing a few older threads that didn’t originate in this (the proper) forum if one already existed here. No use punishing those who posted in the correct place to begin with.

I ask for your patience.
