Adjusting fixed sights.

I just got a vaquero sheriff, brand new, that groups REALLY well.
Like 2" at 25 yards (10 shots!!).
I was not aware that this short barreled "Pretty boy" could shoot.
It didn't ever occur to me.
It shoots 8"-10" to the left, however.
Like the barrel could be tightened a tiny bit.
Could a gunsmith do this??

caz223,

I'd have someone else shoot the gun to verify the gun is at fault. If it's the gun and not your eyes or grip, since the gun is new, I'd call Ruger. They should be able to turn the barrel in a bit for ya.

Good Luck...

Joe

Caz223:
Like Joe suggested, have someone you know that shoots well give your Vaquero a try. If he (she) says that it shoots left, give Ruger a call first. (I thought my "Limited Edition Sheriffs Model" .357 Vaquero short barrel shot to the left, too, untill I let a couple of other folks try it. Turns out the problem was a loose screw holding the grip...ME

Just me, but I will always give the factory a chance to fix it first, before I let ANYONE else touch it.

I agree with Joe and Foggy

The vaquero's seem to shoot left quite often, I have heard that because it's easier to tighten the barrel than loosen it, they always play it safe when screwing them in. Just what i heard.

My sherrifs model shot almost identical to yours, and Ruger turned it for me, shoots well now.

Just make sure you remove any aftermarket parts before returning it to Ruger, you may not get them back.

Should be under three week turnaround time, hopefully under 2.

Thanks for the speedy replies.
I'll send it to ruger, I guess.
As for the gun being ok, I already had two people shoot it.
They didn't hit paper.
If my groups were all over the paper, THEN I would be at fault.
I don't pull left with any of my guns, so I guess it's this little one. :)

P.S. Aren't these guns fun to shoot??!!
Both of my friends that shot this little one had really big grins on their faces when they were done.

It's a blast to shoot,

If your other guns are not single action, it is not rare at all that you shoot left with the Single action until you get used to it, I suggest shooting it once moore off of a rest, before mailing it back.

If you're used to the SAA then mail it back.

I bought a blackhawk in 41 mag in 93 and we have been inseperable ever since.
Blackhawk, vaquero same deal.
So the SAA type gun is something I am quite comfortable with.

I don't shoot my Vaquero much, but there is something to blazing away with a good single action. When I do shoot it, I find I don't burn nearly as much ammo as I do with the KP90, or with my snubby DA 38.
