adjustable rings?

I just bought a new to me used model seven remington, it came with rings, no scope.
My question, the rear ring has a large screw on each side down by the block where it mounts to the reciever and there are no large screws on the front ring. Are these adjustable rings for windage?

Yes, the rear screws can be used to adjust for gross windage(they can also cause a bent scope tube if misaligned). The front ring has ears that twist into recesses in the front base. It's very important that the rings be aligned with each other before cranking down the ring screws on your scope otherwise the scope tube and internal workings may be damaged.
There's probably a utube video on how to install this type of mount(there seems to be a utube fore everything).

This being a used firearm and the rings are already mounted I am hoping they are aligned since I have already mounted the scope.

It really does pay to have scope install & alignment tools on hand to check & adjust the front and rear rings. Can prevent ruining a good scope. They can be purchased in numerous places online. Luckily for me, I have access to a fine machine shop and made my own.

I'd toss those in the trash and get some better rings. Those are a throwback to the days when rifles came from the factroy with no holes drilled and tapped for scope mounting. It was common 50-60 years ago for gunsmith drilled holes to be less than perfect. This type of mount was necessary to get the scope lined up with the barrel.

Totally unnecessay today. They work, if mounted correctly. But to do it right really requires some special tools and a gunsmiths services. Done wrong and they will cause more problems than any other type of mount, including breaking scopes. The adjustment screws are also prone to shooting loose and causing problems.

There are many other options that cost less, weigh less, are stronger and much easier to mount correctly.
